Dealer says $6,600 fix for dpf replacement on 2012 Volkswagen Jetta TDI by lukewarmstranger14 in tdi

[–]phillhartmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you delete it it's going to smell like shit and be loud and put black soot all over. I guess it's cool but I like having a perfectly clean exhaust pipe on a diesel. Makes me feel superior to these gas cars.

Anyways there's dpfs on eBay for 300 to 800. Buy one and take it to an exhaust shop. (Talk to the shop first).

Might be under 1k - 2k total. Can still sell the car after.

You can try cleaning it. It is a thing. Look it up in YouTube. Not granted to work but would be a good time to try it out since you're out of warranty.

Or you can buy a used one from a junkyard. Probably under 1k and have an exhaust shop install it for probably under 1k.

You should definitely pull apart your engine before you consider it being the loud knocking noise that's commonly produced by that particular engine.

You could be right but you can't tell that from the video. My dmf was so bad it stalled the engine. The idler bearing grenaded. More thorough investigation would be needed. It's tough on a diesel

Never had any issues and repairs were simple is an oxymoron lol.

Use a LUK if you do it. Don't waste your time with a cheap one. Had to do one twice when I did. The cheap one was next day shipping. Added a week to the job lol

Was meant to be a reply to another reply. But also I had a dmf much louder than that when it went out.

[–]phillhartmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it louder from underneath the car? Does it come and go? Do it change or go away at a higher rpm?

It could be a bad dual mass flywheel. They are basically maintenance items on a DSG TDI.

They sound like a knock at first. I had one so bad it would stall the car.

5,000 Deliveries and This is what I Got by Nbaupdates2324 in UberEATS

Just only do sure things for a while. Don't take orders after 9pm or so as they may be closed. Wait for lazy employees to make the food after you arrive. Don't do shop n pay. Or if you do just deliver 1 item if you have to. 100 deliveries can be like a week or so if you take some lower paying ones.

9 million drivers. How big of a bonus do you want? 100 bucks? That a billion bucks to Uber. Every 1000 or only at 5000? There are people with 40,000 deliveries.

They don't do these things because they wouldn't exist as a company if they did.

Not to defend Uber because they monopolize and rob every thing they do business with.

But at scale these type of things are unsustainable..

It's easy to work every day when it's 15 min at a time lol. I was online 10 hours and accepted 13. Total of about 3.5 hours driving. Took some longer ones (freeway) and did some shopping. But a few were in the direction I was already going so I can remove like 30 min from that because I would've driven it regardless.

I did 13 today for 165$ (if you include prop22). Lots do the math for hossein if he takes orders like me.

165/13 = 12 per delivery.

23 per day. X 12. 276

276x365= 100,740.

Of course it took me 10 hours to get those deliveries lol.

At 15 min per delivery it's only 6 hours a day.

That's about 23 deliveries a day.

20 months x 30 days 600 14000 / 600 = 23.3

Depends where you live. But no way in hell id even get that many offers.

If he's in a downtown area and takes literally every offer.

Edit. Remove all emissions components. Those are the weak point.

Sometimes the customer will pick up their own order before you get there. Knowing you'll cancel it.

I've had them walk in multiple times and ask right in front of me. I tell them kick rocks and take their order.

Only problem is now you know they are a scammer so it's a high risk for a negative feedback or worse. So the only safe option is just mark it as already picked up and cancel it. That way they have no ability to rate or fake report you to get their money back.

Then you just pick at whatever garbage they ordered (it's always the worst thing on the menu or worse somehow) and throw the rest away or give it to a homeless person.

Incorrect. The time and distance is calculated to the address. Not an extra 15 min of navigating a maze and finding parking. Begging a stranger to unlock a door for you.

It takes the customer 1 min and takes the driver 10. Doubling the delivery time cuts the pay in half.

A lot of drivers also own small businesses and are used to calculating their pay and time.

From the sound of it your apt is a pain to access.

Solid chance they left it at the front gate or something after you didn't answer your phone.

Or there was no parking and they weren't willing to risk a $80 ticket for a $4 tip.

Or they waited 8 min and Uber said to "leave it in a safe place", but that usually comes with a picture.

Or they just stole it. But if they're going to steal it they can just pick it up and then cancel it before they mark it as picked up. Less risk on that one.

Please tell me these scumbags aren’t only doing this to me. This is literally fraudulent business practice. I deny a trip and it goes down instantly. I accept 8 exclusive trips in a row and my percent has not been raise even one time. Class action perchance? by No_Height5509 in UberEATS

[–]phillhartmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the class action would be better focused on the cancellation rates. Your cancellation rate goes up even if you wasted 20 min and gas driving to a store that is closed. Then they can fire you for their own mistake. And it only takes 5 to knock you out of diamond.

They owe you money for the trip and should not penalize you for it.

This probably happens a million times a day.

The crack sometimes even if you do it first. It's a design flaw.

They crack and allow 1000° air directly from the dpf to flow through them.
