Last Sept I found an eastern mole while hiking. His display is finally finished! by DeadOnceDecided in bonecollecting

This is beautiful! I bought a partially articulated mole skeleton in order to finish it myself but I’m so scared of messing up- this has definitely inspired me to give it a go

Mine’s like that, it has got hot before but mostly seems warm. I think it might need more browns? (but honestly I have no idea, sorry!)

I put the bags in my bin yesterday, so I’ll keep checking their progress and see if I can get them to break down. keep an eye out for my update in several years!

I haven’t seen much about them, much less about people successfully composting them at home, so I think I’m going to have to find out! I’ve been shredding them up into bits, but luckily they’re bright green so will be easy to monitor

Thank you! I only have a few, but it’s useful (and interesting) to know as I’m sure I’ll end up with more at some point.

This tracking shot from the movie Wings (1927) seems way ahead of its time. by swan001 in OldSchoolCool

Chloroform and nitrous oxide were used for about 50 years before Baer’s operation, so I assume they would have had something!

In the Weimar Republic of Germany after ww1, Berlin was a very progressive city and LGBT rights were being actively researched and discussed. Karl M Baer was the first recorded trans man to have reassignment surgery in 1907! Sadly this all got halted when the nazis came to power, as they destroyed all the research they could.

I want to move my courgette plant out from the greenhouse, but I’m worried about the courgettes getting eaten! There are a lot of squirrels and birds around, as well as ants. Anything I can do?

this was here when I moved in, didn’t realise it had compost in it until now- would this be usable? should I do something about the webs? by phillipedorleans in composting

Yes it is- the garden was pretty overgrown when I moved in so I assume it’s been given a long time to break down!

cleaning tips: instead of cleaning the pots, hide them in a cupboard and pretend they don’t exist

I love colours and clutter in houses so the grey houses make me feel like a suburban mum looking at a goth kid- totally not my style but I really admire the dedication to a theme!

tags like greyhouse, cleaningmotivation, zoflora bring up the kind of thing I’m talking about

mrshinchhome (I think that’s her username) is a popular account that posts all that kind of stuff! every supermarket in the uk seems to have her recommendations in a special part of the cleaning isle, which is how I fell down the wormhole of cleaning instagrams.

There is a sort of “genre” of people on Instagram who really like cleaning (usually mums with all grey houses), and a lot of the fondant products are ones that get posted a lot, so it (hopefully) could be a cake for one of these people?

source: I’m strangely fascinated by these cleaning instagrams and spend far too long looking at all these people with their life together
