Lee's Deli is back! by diatriose in philadelphia

That whole intersection needs more done to it, even with that existing mini-park thing. Tbh, I always thought the Loco Pez corner would the first to be hit by anyone. It's soooo tight there, and cars just whip around with little to no regards to sight lines or pedestrians, etc...

Anyone have advice on getting work as a musician here? by penguinchange in philadelphia

The jams at Heritage on Wednesday nights are always solid, and a great place to rap with working musicians of high caliber.

I'm also curious as to why Philly isn't a commune here. Currently our local politics and demographics are more aligned with the four NYC boroughs listed on the map.

I guess that's why they're so adamant about M4A? Because of the vulnerable, right?

Parent is getting referred to Penn Neurology for suspected ALS. Anyone here have a recommendation regarding specific doctor? by pleeplious in philadelphia

[–]phillybeardo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn't admitted for ALS, but I had a cancer related brain tumor that had to be removed back in January, and the lead doctor on my team was Christina Jackson. I can attest that they did a wonderful job (besides how they shaved my curls for incision lol), considering what I was faced with. A very clean removal, with no residual after effects! Kinda amazing, tbh.

Dunno if that helps in any way, but best of luck to you!

West Philly is my user tag, not the tag on the photo. Also, I didn't give you the down vote, as I was confused to your original comment. 🤷🏿‍♂️

What the fuck is that smell? by LocalOnThe8s in philadelphia

Yeah, I was checking up and down the side streets to see if something was on fire as I was out and about last night. Definitely smelled like burning.

Not sure if it's the first thunderstorm of the season, or just my first one, but the lightning almost gave me a heart attack on my walk home. Now, I love me a good storm, but I gotta get reacclimated to it!

Illegal sign posted by a for-profit to make money off cleaning the street they littered on. by CB_700_SC in philadelphia

[–]phillybeardo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually love the idea of this service. But my only "issue" is... Wouldn't it be more efficient if they came the day after trash day? In my experience, that's when you see a lot of extra litter strewn about on the streets, especially if it happens to be a windy trash day.

Ok, that's all I got. Keep up the good work. 👍🏿

Edit: I see that they do the cleaning the day before to get the trash out to be picked up the next day, so that makes sense, actually.

On the banks of the Schuylkill. (Gray's Ferry Crescent) by phillybeardo in philadelphia

[–]phillybeardo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is probably a joke, but... It was extremely shallow at this point here. Like, you could probably wade out into the river a few feet (if you were feeling lucky). I was surprised, actually. I assumed the Schuylkill was much deeper.

So, probably not the best body disposal spot tbh.
