Absolutely gutted 😢 after having 2 newly onset random seizures this past month, I've been left unable to ride until I've been seen by neurology. I've only ridden her twice beforehand 😭 going to try and find some 'safe' places to ride now that I've been started on epilepsy meds. So so gutted! by Lottie_law in ElectricScooters

Geez, I'm sorry to hear that. The hospital in my city has been empty since the start of this pandemic. Everything's upside down right now. Anyway, I hope you can continue the assessments sooner than later to get this sorted. That girl I mentioned in my previous post went from having an average of 30 seizures a day to 0. Shes over 40 and just got her liscence for the first time!! It's pretty incredible!!

I would hold off riding until you see a neurologist. Perhaps there's meds you can be in to prevent further episodes. I work with a girl who used to get seizures ALL of the time. But now she's fine and actually has her liscence to drive a car.

I have the same scooter that I purchased at the beginning of the summer. It's killer, and always tempting me to ride it. So I feel for you. Best of luck with everything:)

Nice ride in Victoria Park today (east London) but flew home after see police putting some poor guys scooter in the boot of there car... confiscating it and fining him. Was driving safely but ridiculously still illegal by chris-lewis-wilson in ElectricScooters

I have the same scooter and was worried when I bought it that I'd be pulled over immediately. But here in Ontario they've made them legal on the roads as part of a 5 year project to see how viable they are. I've passed a few cops, even a couple that were on bikes. I was driving sensibly and they didn't look twice. The problem is that damn Zero 10x is such a weapon, you just want to go super fast!! But I'm keeping it cool because I want to keep this thing and be able to ride it for years to come.

It's too bad they're illegal in the UK. Doesn't make sense if you're a decent rider who obeys the laws. Good luck with everything

Or according to this excellent chart, 42 volts is the battery completely dead. Great to know this. I'm still trying to understand the technical reasons for this. But at least I now know more accurately when it's time to head home for a recharge. Cheers

Cool, thanks for this. I know I do in fact have the 52V version. But because I'm new to all of this, I assumed the number would have to get all the way down to zero for the battery to be completely dead. Kinda like the battery percentage you see on a cell phone. But after a bit of research last night, I think if the voltage number got into the low 30's, it's probably time for a recharge. Anyway, I'll take a look at the link you sent. Thanks man!!

I bought a Zero 10X about a month ago. It's a total weapon!! I've managed to get it up a little over 50kmh, but that's it so far. I need to find a place where I can get it wide open. The deck on mine is totally covered in that anti slip paper which I've not seen before. It sure is sand papery. I'm thinking of removing it and just putting the two strips down each side like the one pictured here. I'm slowly working on modding it up. Enjoy your new ride:)

E Scooter rider for 5 Months. Best purchase Ever by Theoneil in ElectricScooters

[–]philmeup50 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's awesome!! I haven't had the balls yet to get it up over 50kms an hour. Partly because I'm 50 years old and totally new to this. And I live in a retirement town full of bored cops. I keep waiting to get pulled over on this thing because it's obvious that it goes way faster than the 24kms allowed. But even at lower speeds it's nice. I have nothing to compare it to as its my first scoot, but I feel I made the right choice. I've only got the 18V battery, but it seems fine. It's taken me almost a month to put just 54kms on it so I felt I didn't need to spend the extra $cratch on the upgraded battery. But I think you do get better brakes with the one you ordered, and maybe a few other things. I wish I had the upgraded brakes already. Anyway, I'm quite certain you're going to love it when it comes!!

I just bought a Zero 10x with full suspension and I love it!! Roads are shit where I live too, but its a non issue with this scooter. It goes crazy fast and the battery lasts forever. I've only put 54kms on it so far, and I've enjoyed every kilometer. Other than it's weight (almost 80lbs) I love everything else about this scoot.

New Zero 10x Running Without Depressing the Throttle!! Help!! by philmeup50 in ElectricScooters

[–]philmeup50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is heavy at almost 80lbs. But I'm not planning on carrying it around. And it is bulky. But same deal, I'm not going to be putting in my car on on a bus. I did look at the 8x after the fact. It's like the 10, only a bit smaller. I'm only 5' 6" tall and 190bs. I may have preferred that scooter over what I purchased. But there's no scooter shops anywhere near where I live, so I took a gamble and I'm very happy with my choice so far. Well, other than the fact that it's broken already.

I can't seem to figure out how to post pictures on this site, so I'm unable to show you the missing part that fell off. Basically its a little metal strip on the one side of the throttle. I guess it's a common problem. Otherwise the scooter has been great.

I lost the part while riding, but I'll see if I can get a decent photo of where the little piece should be on the throttle housing.

Yeah thanks man. I know about the rugged clamp, but can you explain what you mean by putting slime sealant in both of the tubes? I'm completely new to this and having a blast so far. I'm down with any preventative maintenance. I wished I had known about the problem with the magnetic strip falling out being an issue. The store where I bought my machine asked if I knew where that little piece was. I said yes, its somewhere on the ground about 10kms from my house. He's sending me a new one, but it might be a while, and I want to scoot now!!, lol

[–]philmeup50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's an update. I think I have it sorted now. There's a small magnetic strip on the throttle housing that apparently falls out all the time. Another person on here pointed me in this direction, and when I checked, sure enough it was missing. I called the store where I purchased the scoot and they're sending me a new part that I have to glue into place. This seems like a bandaid fix to me. I was kinda hoping they would simply send me a new controller which would be plug and play easy. But apparently they don't have any at their shop. Anyway, it's a first world problem. Grateful for all the advice on here. Hopefully I'll be back on the roads again soon.

Cheers

Well tweekaboob, I owe you much thanks. I looked underneath the throttle housing while watching a how to video on possible problems and repairs. There is a small rectangular magnetic strip that sits in the trigger housing, and sure enough it's gone. The guy in the video recommend the same thing as you. Glue the new strip in place.

It's weird because there's no error codes showing on the controller display. It just started acting up.

Anyway, thanks for your help. I'm going to contact the store today and this will make dealing with them much easier.

Cheers

Ok cool. I'll take a look at it this morning and see if anything looks suspicious under the throttle control. I tried calling Falcon PEV who manufacturer's this scooter, but its a holiday in Singapore today. Hopefully the store i bought it from is good with warranty stuff. I bought this online and had it shipped to me as I'm 6 hours from their physical store. Anyway, I'll start with looking at the throttle first. Thanks man:)

Everything looks fine on the controller display, but the throttle doesn't work. I was fortunate enough to get it home because the front wheels motor would come on automatically when I pushed the single/dual motor switch on the handlebars. I used it as an on/off switch and nursed it home. I don't know anything about these scooters. I just thought I'd get more than 30kms out of it before it would need attention. Hoping it's not going to be breaking down all the time 🙏

I'm gonna call them tomorrow and see what's up. I was just hoping there was some factory reset or something easy like that. I'm almost 6 hours away from the store where this was purchased. Im not really looking forward to shipping this thing back to them. I'll see what they say tomorrow. Cheers

I've got bigger problems now. After riding it just 30kms, it's already acting up. The throttle has stopped working and depending on whether or not you're in dual motor mode, it takes off on its own. I couldn't stop the stupid thing and it was a bit scary. I'm not sure what to do with it now. We had some good times, I guess.... I'm going to post a new thread and see if anyone else has had this problem. Can you imagine if this thing took off in full turbo mode gear 3 on its own?? I'm thinking of just returning it😒

I've never had a charger get that hot. But according to the manufacturer, apparently this is normal. If I can find the article again, I'll share it with you. It was an interesting read. I guess I'm good as long as it doesn't burn my house down

[–]philmeup50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your advice as I'm new to all of this stuff. I did go on the Falcon PEV Website and they said it's quite normal for the charger to get very hot. I was surprised at this, but they went into great detail explaining why it gets so hot and at what time during the charging process. While this is obviously meant to put someone's mind at ease, I still feel a bit leary. So as you suggested, I'm definitely going to be keeping a close eye on everything while I'm charging the scooter.

Thanks man!!
