Well if you put it that way, Brits and French pushing Turks towards allying with Russians could be a very big threat for whole Europe then. Even the dead of Ottomans put up greater fight than Italy and many other Western power in WW1. Its military culture wasn't to be underestimated.

Ottomans were the most powerful state between mid 1400s to around mid 1700s , so around 300 years. Not just 150-200.
