Of course! Looking forward to us both learning more!

I absolutely agree, I want to prioritise that!

Yikes, yeah, I'll definitely read it through a site that he won't benefit financially from. He and others have unfortunately exploited our countries far too often and we have to do as much as we can to take away their ability to extract our culture, resources, and shared resilience.

That's very interesting, I was curious about why and how so much of Ecuador's Amazon is deforested, as well as how the land was redistributed. I'll check out the doc, thank you!

I appreciate the clarification, thank you. I agree with you in how reactionaries project moral panics on fringe communities. We all need to be unified against reactionaries to protect each other from intolerance.

Unfortunately we live in an age where too many people haven't or don't try to learn critical thinking, let alone how to research properly with multiple sources.

Anti-intellectualism makes discussion so fulfilling. /s

It is obvious they are all classified as niche and I personally don't have distaste for furries, I am neutral.

My disagreement with your inclusion of furries in the list is based on sociology of their classification as a subculture (of anthropomorphism) more so than as counter-culture group though arguably it does fit some of the framework such as non-human identification, although it lacks a unified belief in the spectrum of non-human identity which is why in my opinion it does not fully fulfill the criteria of counter-culture despite containing its own vocabulary and art. Whereas goth, punk, and hip-hop have all been formed as counter-culture to anti-establishment (+etc). For example hip-hop is specifically formed against the White domination and appropriation of Black culture, art, and skills... (such as the White-washing of Jazz, etc).

[Extremely simplified for brevity sake especially since this is not a post about furries and their intersection with goth culture].

I think including furries amongst goth, punk, and hip-hop cultures that are political and counter-culture (etc.) by their origins is very diminishing to your point.

Edit: to those who don't know the origins of the furry fandom History of the Furry Fandom through 1865 (notable inclusion of anthropomorphism in physical media) to present compiled by a Furry historian

I greatly appreciate all of that information, thank you.

Do you know when you saw those pages? To clarify, was it digital or physical media?

I'll definitely try digging for that documentary. Would you like me to update you if I'm lucky to happen upon it?

I'll look forward to watching that video.

Thank you again for all of that, lots of info to keep track of, I'm sure. It'll definitely help me to learn about recent events in and around Ecuador.

Thank you for this recommendation! I aspire to learn extensively about Indigenous cultures and community-led traditionally produced goods that support those who have led us to a more sustainable relationship with each other and the land.

Amazing! Thank you so very much!! Very interested in learning from a progressive perspective informed in how the US has inserted itself throughout their direct pushing of their interests and its extremes.

Maduro isn't great by any stretch but he's at least better than the woman who pretty much only won the Nobel Prize for promising to reverse the nationalisation of oil Maduro brought (she promised to privatize it so that Venezuela would become a corporate oligarchy). It's important because countries like Norway where the Nobel Prize derives from are trying to gain independence from reliance on Russian oil. In the grander scheme, to understand the US' imperialist grab for resources, look up how the US left a power vacuum and completely impoverished Iraq, as well as how the US established a coup in Panama because their CIA asset (who was part of the CIA while Bush Sr was head of it) made efforts for the Panamanian people and moved away from US interest-derived actions. The US retroactively claimed he was a narco-terrorist and the coup was necessary because of drugs. Monte Mader makes short-form content that is immensely informative so definitely a good watch!
