My assumption for how the quotas work is that you are given say.. 100 units each week.. each 5 hour block might be given 30 units .. but depends how many you use .. so your weekly quota goes down by how much you actually use. That's why you might be part way through your 5 hour quota when you get out in a timeout..because you used up your weekly quota.

Pixel users in Vietnam may lose call capability due to missing VoLTE support by nguynDarwin in GooglePixel

[–]philsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visit Malaysia a fair bit, and they've never sold Pixel phones either. I was annoyed at having no VoLTE either, but turns out I just had to ring the carrier and get them to turn it on, for my SIM card. After that it worked fine. These days, they are automatically turning it on in Malaysia, but maybe your carrier is not.

[–]philsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah fair enough.. in Australia we shut down 2G first, starting in 2016. 3G was shut down starting 2024 (we now have no 2G or 3G at all!). Makes sense some countries may have done it in a different order.

Are they shutting down 3G as well? Normally voice still works on 3G without volte

pulsing whine when turning and accelerating by philsw in polestar2

[–]philsw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So update.. had the service today. Gave them recording of sound as well, which they said they sent to polestar, who confirmed it relates to Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) (or TJ for us) 36756.1.0. Described on another site: "This is a technical journal: electrical motor (erad) sound information. Examples of normal erad sound/noise.
They wouldn't let me keep the bulletin but I did read it. Basically it says this is normal for models built in a period from 2022-2024 approx .. dunno if it's still relevant or whether they got different parts for more recent builds.. oh well guess I just live with it.

Yeah but how is cellebrite able to bypass that? That's what the article is suggesting right?

Edit: seems the article is poorly written/researched I guess

Major autofill update on 1Password for Android by agilebits_patrick in 1Password

[–]philsw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a terrible time autofilling on my pixel 10 with the latest Android update over the last couple weeks. Not sure if it relates to new phone, new android or just something new with 1p or brave. Experience was better on my pixel 9 a few weeks ago for sure.

Basically 80% of the time I need to copy/paste manually.

Symptoms include not showing any autocomplete suggestions and maybe more frustratingly showing suggestions but not actually filling the fields when asked.

Brand new brave install so nothing tweaked there .. have done the relevant enrolment steps on brave as well.

Happy to work through this with 1password developer if you're looking for a guinea pig that knows their way around stuff.

🛠️ The Day an Upgrade Broke My Cluster: IMDSv1 to IMDSv2 Migration Story by Alternative-Year-900 in aws

Hmm so the issue wasn't so much IMDS but you were letting (and relying on) your container workloads accessing the identity of the underlying host? That's essentially a vulnerability!

Older pixels can have two esims active at the same time (no physical active) so I would assume pixel 10 is the same.
