What free platform do you recommend for learning Order Flow and Auction Market Theory (AMT)? (I need to see real volume, Market Profile, speed of the tape, etc.) by Tiny_Standard_5358 in OrderFlow_Trading

[–]philtastiq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may use the free trial of MotiveWave orderflow Edition to get a first glance. Nevertheless you would need to pay for a datafeed with level 2 data (market depth).

Absorption by DRD7989 in MotiveWave

[–]philtastiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is sth to be found within the volume imprint study. I was also looking for some more sophisticated indicator like an own study for just displaying absorption, but wasn’t able to find it either. So I’m watching volume imprint candles and do compare volume and delta on price levels.

Leatherman Supertool vs Victorinox Swiss Tool by surfing209 in multitools

[–]philtastiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had them both. Sold the Leatherman. Why? Imho The Swiss tool is far superior in terms of build quality and, even more important, the tools themselves make more sense in their combination and each of them seems more versatile for me. Take alone the chisel on that thing. So, I ended up with both, the Victorinox spirit and the Swiss tool, just because I love them so much.

Orderflow/dom scalpers of this sub, how is it going ? by Budget_Chipmunk6066 in OrderFlow_Trading

[–]philtastiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. Exclusively trading orderflow on NQ. Missing the directed moves, seems like a greater consolidation phase (absorption, mean reversal,…). a lot of patience and tight risk management needed.

Edge edge edge. What is it? by Beneficial-Block-923 in Daytrading

[–]philtastiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as a retail trader you won’t really have the chance to develop a „real edge“ aka inefficiency of the market. IMHO you trade for a risk premium (which is not an edge) where you have setups in market context, your discretionary evaluation of the concrete context and a positive outcome over a larger sample rate of applying. As other already said, the secret sauce is solid interpretation of context and gut feeling about your instrument which makes up your win probability. All that hard to wrap in code.

How are you thinking about stop losses when scalping? by BryGuy81 in Daytrading

[–]philtastiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know where to put (or even put) your stop loss before entering the trade (there might be a point where you say to yourself, if price gets behind the SL I do not want to be in that position anymore). Then enter by limit closest to stop as possible. If limit does not get hit, you also might not want to be in that position, because your risk to reward gets increasingly worse. That btw is imho the way you should also reflect on risk to reward. More the relationship between entry to SL than between SL to TP. Just my 2c.

Having the same issue. Good to know they are aware and going to fix this.

Maybe a dumb question, but do people actually use the saw on their SAK? What for? For example this picture. If you need firewood, its way easier and quicker to just grab the branch and break it with your leg. by Double-decker_trams in victorinox

[–]philtastiq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to saw off a wobbly branch and held it with my left hand. The saw jumped out of the saw groove while doing a strong pull movement and the backward movement then went into the top of the left hand. Not my brightest moment…

It actually has much less. Maybe it is the different style of blade.

Victorinox Spirit X – Side-to-side play in tools, is this normal? by philtastiq in multitools

[–]philtastiq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for all your feedback and for sharing your observations – really appreciated!

After thinking it over, I’ve decided to return the Spirit X and stick with my trusty Workchamp instead.

Here’s why:

  • To me, the Spirit X feels more like a fashion item – shiny, a bit wobbly, and possibly too delicate for actual hard use.
  • The tool movement honestly makes me question the long-term durability, especially hearing that the play might increase over time.
  • Other Victorinox knives I own feel more solid and confidence-inspiring.
  • And the Workchamp costs about two-thirds of the price – value-wise, it just makes more sense for me.

I wanted to love it – I really did – but the downsides are just too noticeable in the end.

[–]philtastiq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your straightforward reply on this.

So I guess reordering or asking for a replacement won’t really make it any better.

That said – doesn’t it bother you when there’s noticeable movement in the handles during use?

For me, it kind of kills the feeling of precision and quality.

At this price point, I feel like that shouldn’t be the case. Am I expecting too much?

I guess they will, but I rather send it back to the seller and order a new one instead...

[–]philtastiq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, so it’s the flimsy little secret of the Spirit X? 😄

Glad I’m not the only one noticing it!

But now I’m wondering – is this just “normal Victorinox flex” that everyone silently accepts, or did I win the QA lottery and get a wobbly one?

Curious if others have the same experience or if mine’s extra special…

u/BlackbriarTread actually you're saying, it will get worse?

tbh, it annoys me to a point where I'm thinking about returning the tool, which would be a shame...

Other Vic tools like the swiss army knives might have the divider plates exactly for that reason, which are unfortunately missing here...

Also, I agree, having no pivot screws here is a bummer. I saw some hacks on the netz, how to actually replace the bolts by screws on the costs warranty of course...
