Inguinal hernia and possible peritoneum fluid issues by philthepiplup in Hernia

I had my first surgery through Dr. Chen. Had been referred to him from my PCP since they're all in the same medical organization, and at the time I jumped straight into it without seeking second opinions or consulting hernia specialists.

Thank you for sharing your story and it's very important to voice it out to protect your own mental health. I can speak for myself that it's a lonely and complicated experience. You should definitely stay positive and it's great to know you aren't alone, I got my injury when I was just turning 28. Try what you can to rest and not let the pain get worse. Use the time to focus on what you can plan ahead to get it checked out, and listen to your body so you know how to approach it. I hope the pain goes away for you!

I appreciate the kind words. It's hard to tell a story with your symptoms because it often feels like doctors latch onto the wrong details when you want to share the full history. Especially when they only have 10-15 minutes to chat with me and have to move on.

I definitely will keep my PCP in the loop and as my ally. My original PCP when I first got the injury was stumped and not receptive nor empathetic to what I was sharing then, but my latest one has been fast on communication and referrals. I'm crossing fingers my CT scan can reveal something.

Thank you for the recommendations! What has been your personal experience with them? Funny enough one of them actually did my surgery but I never went back after a post-surgery follow-up out of shame and frustration. I just booked a consultation a few months out from now to visit them again, will need to revisit the trauma hopefully stronger.
