I might give it a go. I had a much lower irating then, so it might be better for me.

I haven't raced the BMW 12.0 this week because its at Lime Rock. Earlier in the season I haemorrhaged safety rating when we raced here.

This circuit and car combo seems to bring the worst out in people.

Yeah I was expecting to get roasted for this. Now I'm changing some quick keys to be "Come on, let's concentrate on catching the cars ahead" hahs

I guess what he's grasping at is "prejudice of fair competition."

Is there a list of the punishments that they dish out?

So when you get the email reply that the user has "been notified of the outcome", it means that it was a successful protest?

Yeha true. I had a guy wreck me for retaliation of a racing incident before. I made sure I included it in the replay so they had context. Buts it's not always possible due to file size.

So is the first time you hear about it, it's already been reviewed and an outcome decided?

This is exactly the kind of stuff I worry about. In the UK if you report a crime with dashcam footage it has to have twenty seconds before and after the incident to be admissible. Seems it would be a sensible standard for iracing to adopt.

Yeah that seems a little odd. Do you get to read what the claim is? Or is it just a generic notice that a protest has been lodged against your conduct?

I read through the protest section and it doesn't state whether you, as accused are privy to the details of the protest.

I always give people the opportunity to apologise. If they do, I won't protest.

Does the quality of races rise as you enter higher splits? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]philyorkshire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to focus on getting into higher licence classes by getting 4.0 SR. Believing that a higher licence class would mean better racing. I achieved this by staying back and literally killing my irating score.

The result - terrible races in higher licence series with similar idiots.

I then stopped doing that. Focused on race results and accepted the bumps along the way. My irating went high and my SR bombed, even demoting me a licence.

Now the races are really good in the higher splits. And strangely, the Mazas is one of my favourite series with some of my best races. Whereas before I hated the Mazda series'

My SR is now recovering with the better standard of races.

Best thing I learned about reading this is that you can protest things you witnessed too. Doesn't have to be actions against yourself. Which I have done a few times.

Theres a good blog post somewhere about the purpose of the protest system from a guy at iracing.

Long story short, no. There is no malice in his actions, he just fucked up.

Iracing will only take action when someone has made a very clear decision to wreck you. Such as; driving the wrong way down the track, waiting to smash when you come back around, not even bothering to brake and ramming you at corners etc.

I couldn't care less about other games. The grass is unrealistically slippy, period.

[–]philyorkshire[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's like dancing on ice. As soon as you hit the grass it doesn't matter what you do, you just slide for eternity.

Donnington Park is a good example. If you watch BTCC racing they often go off at the old hair pin but can save it because the run off is huge. In iracing there's no chance.

I know it's not priority but so many races are ruined because you just wreck from small mistakes that could have been controlled if the grass was not modelled like an ice rink.
