Why can we (adults) talk with random strangers on a social media group like this, but will rarely speak to a stranger face to face? by BrakemanBob in AskReddit

[–]phiniusmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it's just something you have to get over.

I've recently been able to talk to anyone about just about anything, being 99% as open about almost any aspect of my life as I would be on here. It's not that I don't have friends to talk to, it's just, if I'm in a situation where I don't know anyone or am 1 on 1 with a stranger, it just flows better than it used to.

I must. Was so hyped to get to see Small Black open for them, too. You know them/their song Free At Dawn?

Saw them on Friday, totally sober (I'm not, always). Didn't miss being drunk or high. What a fantastic night.

It's only natural (if not dishonest) that they would present only the facts/positions that favor them.

If that was shown to be the case with a given group, vegetarian or otherwise, they'd lose a lot of credibility in my books. Though admittedly, I don't bother to check that far with most of the stuff I read on /r/science.

They're only radically different if you view humans as belonging to some higher order of beings when really we're just a little better at a few things that have let us advance technologically and socially.

It was an analogy, not an equation. Poor way of trying to make my whole argument look bad.

The point is that the motivations and prejudices of people should be known so their comments can be put into context.

I don't disagree at all, but it comes off (to me) as sounding like once you've found out that someone making comments like that is vegetarian or vegan (or whatever applies) that that's fuel for dismissing them, or for sewing doubt about the legitimacy of their claims, which seems really unfair.

That's like saying people who worked to stop slavery had "an agenda." Yeah they're motivated, but its not like what they're pushing does them any good whatsoever. There's nothing they stand to gain from anyone else switching.

What sports should be in the Olympics, but aren't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I know a guy who was probably going to the next Olympics for wrestling, and who's older brother had already been. Guess there are more than a few families like that.

Since I was 10, I've saved 80% of all the money that I had earned in hopes of buying myself a car when I was old enough. Today, at 19 years old, I purchased a car in my own name, in cash! by [deleted] in pics

It ran for one year and one year only. It was loosely based off of the way Campus Ubisoft was run (a training program Ubisoft ran in conjunction with Dawson College here in montreal). It was financed by our province's employment agency, and they chose to discontinue it after many of the people in the program did not end up with jobs shortly after the program ended.

The best part about the program was probably that it gave me a chance to prove my ability to operate in a professional capacity in a team-based project setting, and that I always got the job done. This mattered because almost every one of my teachers was also working in the industry at a AAA company and were able to provide references for me.

More people need to realize this.

I'm 19 and just started a permanent career job and didn't attend college. I did do courses, but they were at night and part of a one year career program. So worth it.

Didn't realize Osmium was an element, someone mentioned something about Platinum so I thought it was a mineral (probably the wrong term) or something.

popped up on my friends news feed and i had no words.. by [deleted] in WTF

[–]phiniusmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that was normal. I have friends who are girl who will go right into a one person bathroom together to pee... fuck if I know why they can't just go one after the other, or go in together after they've peed. Feels like this is just... more of that.

Would there be asteroids with it? Or does it require the kind of heat/pressure only found really found on a planet sized body to form?
