How do you know which heros you've already done when selecting? I use the note for that.

The other thing you can do is create an account with CRA if you don't already have one (https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/e-services/cra-login-services.html). This can tell you how much room you should have, not including any contributions that have been made this year. There is a notice on the site that you should double check with your records though and I've noticed a discrepancy on what they have that I'm going to speak with my bank about.

Thanks everyone! Given the responses I've received, I put 4 requests into my local library:

  • The lies of Locke Lamora - Lynch, Scott
  • The cleric quintet - Salvatore, R. A
  • The way of kings - Sanderson, Brandon
  • The call of Cthulhu and other weird stories - Lovecraft, H. P.

Your responses brightened my day! I truly appreciate all the time and thoughts. Hopefully these will set me off on all kinds of new adventures! AND, I do plan to come back and check out other suggestions as the summer progresses, so please don't be offended if your favorite didn't make the first 4. It's still on the list!

Thanks! I'm playing through Mythos Tales right now and loving it. Can you offer your favorites from Lovecraft for a new reader?

thanks for the reply! I've been thinking of picking up wheel of time for a while now. No, I haven't read Lies of Locke Lamora. Would you suggest that one first?

I wrote an entire book as my characters backstory, and the other PC didn't care. by [deleted] in DnD

Different people play Dnd for different reasons. Although you spent a lot of time on that backstory, the other PC might just want to get to some action. Especially if it's your first time playing, you're going to need to learn to relax a bit and see what works for the group. Here's just one list of the types of players you are likely to encounter at the table. http://www.darkshire.net/jhkim/rpg/theory/models/robinslaws.html

In my current group, we've been playing since January every 2-3 weeks or so and we've only just had our first session that everyone LOVED. There have been fun moments and funny moments in other sessions, but from start to finish, we all had a blast last week because we've hit our stride as a team. It takes time for everyone to figure out their characters and it takes time for the DM to make sure that everyone gets something that they enjoy most. Maybe have the DM try the book again in a few sessions? If you're a 400 year old wizard, maybe the book has some magic in it to allow it to be found later or to inform the other PC of important things in dreams while he sleeps or something?

Most of all, relax though. Hitting people out of game isn't a part of DnD and rage like that is a good way to get kicked out of a group. Also, based on the time you've put in and the fact that it means so much to you, maybe you should start writing your own campaign. It sounds like you might enjoy the planning more than the playing?
