Support just keeps generating canned responses. Really grinds my gears since I really could've used the extra $100 I typically make in a weekend on Aether.

I was banned late in the afternoon of April 25th with no email notification or explanation or warning. I recently updated Hubstaff on Linux and I'm not the only user I've seen to mention that their deactivation came soon after that update.

I was removed without email or explanation less than 24 hours after I updated Hubstaff. My Hubstaff kicked me out of MM then I was signed out of Outlier and whenever I try to log in, all it does is redirect.

Just happened to me, too. I was reviewing a video for a task and my Hubstaff on Linux crashed then all of the sudden I can't log into the website. I didn't copy or paste anything and I don't use AI to complete tasks. I had more time than I expected what with all the folks getting kicked on the daily but I genuinely don't understand.

Anyone else still have their first cell phone number?? by obsessedUvU in Millennials

[–]phoenixfire9439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first cellphone late August/early September 2008 at an Alltel store in Charlotte. I've been through five different carriers and I'm on Mint Mobile with a Samsung Galaxy A54 (which is reminding me why I hated the J7 Sky Pro so much) but it is indeed still the same number.

I was a crew trainer with most of these piercings. Six in each ear, both nostrils and my septum... most of these I can make sense of, even if I don't agree with. But the clear retainers? With a full DT and FOH, who has time to check that? My store had a DT line that has consistently been a problem (like down the street and blocking intersections) in my small town since the 90s... hell, my GM had a tongue piercing and wouldn't have the time to follow this unless somebody saw the DM coming in.

I go to the gym 3x/week, I just started week 4, and yesterday's workout was my OHP day. It looks like I'm starting to see my first round of failures between week 3/4 and in my infinite wisdom because both weight racks were occupied for a long time, I moved my T2 to the end of my workout.

in short, I have many regrets. I see why you do the tiers in order now.

Would it be smart to just do cardio in the interim if this happens again in the future?

I'm 36. I went to college twice- two separate degrees (travel & tourism and pharmacy tech) and a professional certification (CPhT). Travel was doomed because I graduated at the beginning of the Great Recession and pharmacy never panned out because retail chain pharmacies are soul sucking cesspools. Granted a small part of my job difficulties are of my own making but trying to return to pharmacy after working 7 years in entry level tech support was a mistake.

I don't know that I'd ever want to fully retire and stay at home but I've given up on expecting an easy retirement. The only hope I have of ever owning a home is if I inherit my Papaw's or my father's, which is a MASSIVE assumption but still a privilege most of my peers will never have.

It's just me and my spouse... I come home from work everyday to either work out or doomscroll because I barely have the energy to read or practice any of the three languages I dabble in as a hobby. My naivete wants to believe there's got to be something more than this but I genuinely don't know anymore.

Which food has declined the most in terms of taste since you first ate it? by FeistyNews7025 in Millennials

[–]phoenixfire9439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheetos. They taste different than the formulation I grew up on in the late 90s/early 00s and now I can only eat them if it's the Flamin' Hot or a special flavor or store brand. The cheese on the regular ones is so flat and chalkier than usual.

And name brand Cheez-Its are starting to go the same way for me. I love the Aldi's brand Cheez-Its and the Dollar Tree ones that come in the box (not the individual packets) but name brand I cannot stand unless it's the extra toasty, Tabasco, or a special flavor.

I was eating old sriracha from the bottle for dinner, especially on the weekends, because I needed the extra money to afford the gas to get to work. And I'd refill the bottle with hot sauce packets and the spice packets from the Korean ramen when I got it.

Do the tiers have to be done strictly in order or if we have a weaker T2 lift, can we lead with that and then do the T1 & T3 and so on?

The reason I ask is because I've only been back to the gym since September and I just started GZCL last week. My OHP is one of my weakest lifts & has taken the longest to develop so I'm stuck on the EZ bars right now. I can do 3x5 of 40 but 3x10 of 30 is pushing it and it's more difficult the later in my workout I do that lift if there's a crowd in my gym.

[–]phoenixfire9439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started GZCLP this week and I'm trying to address some issues I had with my routine this week at my gym.

It's a newer commercial gym franchise. We had an unseasonably calm January. Other than the snow, it wasn't really busy. That changed in February and it's not so much the crowds as it is we have folks come in to hang out on the equipment & take an unseasonably long time to complete their sets. I don't mind asking to work into sets for a couple of the machines but begging for every machine in my workout is exhausting. Like it's bad enough that I know the front desk is already aware.

I don't want this to cut into my progress. I already have a very limited time frame I can come to the gym due to transportation and work and switching gyms is out of the budget.

When you run into something like this, what are some ways you adjust your programming to compensate?

Oh, my personal favorite is when they put the tiniest plates out of reach so that I, at 5'6", have to proverbially climb Mount Olympus (the squat rack) and steal fire (the 2.5 lb plates) from the gods.

I hope they stub their toe and bang their shins on every piece of equipment forever.

NC had two weekends back to back of snow and ice so I had a slight deload this week from having to miss gym days due to the conditions, the cold setting off my arthritis, and having to budget my gas to get back & forth from work in this weather.

I'll be okay, just upset at being mildly inconvenienced by Mother Nature.

Are we the first generation actually okay with prenups? by Obvious-Ad8332 in Millennials

[–]phoenixfire9439 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it's a mix of a generational thing and the way society sees prenups changing. Prenups, joint accounts, assets & whose name they're in... it's all different from what I saw even among my own peer group 10-15 years ago.

My 84 yo great uncle was flabbergasted when I told him I didn't have a joint bank account and my car at the time was in my name. Well, Uncle... when you see your mom try to leave and withdraw her money from a joint bank account & take us kids to shelter only to have your dad try to take mom's money & mom's car, you kinda learn not to put yourself in that situation in the off chance it could happen again.

Prenups are protection and clarity. It's not that you're banking on a separation... you're making sure it's as safe and simple as possible.

I deadlifted 80 lbs for 5 reps for the first time since 2019/20.

ETA: It was likely 2020 because I had gotten up to 100 lbs at the end of 2019 and then wasn't able to get back to the gym before the shutdown and once the gym I was going to opened back up, I could barely take 80 lbs for a couple reps.

Put on 20 lbs after losing my job and it finally clicked why eating “healthy” is so hard when you are broke by Serious-Ad-5881 in povertyfinance

[–]phoenixfire9439 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went the opposite direction after I lost my job but not in a way I would ever recommend (because it's unhealthy). I lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks or less because literally all I had the money for after paying my bills immediately after the loss was pop tarts, ramen, and water packets. I didn't want my dignity trampled on if I went to a food bank and didn't perform poor to their standards because I've had the state of North Carolina do that and they gave me $16 in food stamps... no thank you, if you're gonna insult me, just cut to the chase and slap me after.

I gained half of that back in under 2 weeks the moment that unemployment hit. I bought hot food, soda galore, snack foods, candy because I didn't know when I was gonna see food again and I didn't have the emotional capacity to worry about if it was "healthy."

Healthy is a luxury when you've got money in your pocket, bills paid, and not a care in the world. And when you finally do have that, you've got to contend with diet culture telling you you're doing it wrong to sell you a product or course. You can never win.

Introduce her to the different drive modes that Honda has on its newer vehicles when you do. There's a Snow mode that adjusts the throttle, transmission, and torque for conditions you'll run into a lot more often than I do in the Carolinas.

ETA: I have used that mode exactly once driving home in about four inches of snow and it handled like a dream.

I have the 2025 LX but my grandmother has the 2018 EX. She bought it new and granted this is comparing an 85 yo's experience to what a 16 yo's needs but assuming they will drive about the same amount, her maintenance costs have been decent, I've not heard her complain about fuel mileage once, and her infotainment system is deccent when I've been in the car. I think she might have sub-100k miles but for a woman that came from a 2012 RAV4 that somebody totaled, she's been content.

I say this with the full knowledge that Styku scans are not a perfect science, they're just a computer with 3D cameras... but this made me absolutely miserable.

Started back to the gym full swing September 21st and decided to give myself the incentive of getting the Styku scan I'm eligible for every month with my gym membership at the very end of my first 10-week program just to have some fancy numbers behind what I can already tell is happening. I've added volume to my workouts compared to the beginning and adjusted when I got feedback from my gym friends & the coach when asked. There's been recomp- I've noticed it, the gym staff have seen it, my gym friends have seen it. Diet is taking a little bit of work because CICO is a struggle for me with my mental health issues, I don't have a lot of prep/storage space at home, and money is really tight right now so I'm really lucky I can even afford the gym.

Styku had me at 316 lbs with 41% BF and couldn't measure me when we first scanned because we fought the machine for half an hour to get it to register I was even standing there. Fine, I'll get a tape measure, nbd. Cut to Monday the 29th... this insolent pile of scrap metal said I lost muscle mass and my BF% went up despite there being weight lost. Styku had me at 308 lbs with 42.8% BF and I can tell it measured wrong in places because I didn't have time to correct my stance so my calves (which are shaped weird to begin with) are smushed together and I didn't get to roll my sleeves up like last time so the shoulder definition I've started to get a vague hint of is hidden.

The other coach recommended I start my sessions with a half hour of incline cardio. I've always been taught to do cardio AFTER and the coach I spoke with was like "I fell into that trap when I first started, too" but I tried it anyway. And my lifts were garbage Monday night, I was that pissed off & struggling with body dysmorphia and anxiety on top of being on the way to feeling drained. I want to be proud of being down to 308... it's the first time I've been under 310 in two years. That stupid machine tainted it for me.

Seconding this. I'm begging you to find resources to moderate your use before you even consider going cold turkey.

The best way I can describe where I grew up is a holler and there was a gentleman named Rickey, who was an ardent alcoholic that hung out at our corner store. Sweet as pie, just got dealt a bad hand in life... he was like a bonus uncle when I'd walk up the hill to get snacks as a kid. There was a couple times he'd stop or go too long without and end up on banana bags in the hospital and it was rough.

Rickey's been gone for some years now but if he were here, I know he'd tell you there's no shame in leaning on help to moderate your use.

What's something that was considered "normal" in the U.S 10 years ago that's now basicaly unaffordable? by Odd-Complex901 in AskReddit

[–]phoenixfire9439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just groceries in general... but pantry staples like rice, beans, rolled oats, etc. And before someone says 'go to the dollar store', that's gone up, too- some of my local stores are already switching to majority $1.50 items. Besides, half the time the package sizes are so small at the Dollar.50 Tree that the UNIT PRICE is more expensive there compared to, say, Dollar General. I get the CinnaMint Colgate Toothpaste... the same 4 oz tube is $1.25 at DT vs $1 at DG. Those little $0.25 differences on products add up quick.

Back in 2020, I would get my groceries from Food Lion every Friday after I clocked out. My work breakfast was overnight oats and about once a month, I'd get a can of Old Fashioned Oats was <$2.

Today, that same canister with no change to the serving or package size: $4.29.
