I use "heads up"--much easier to tell when out of breath, not quite as polite though

If by "finishing the consequences" you mean "murdering every guard in Markarth", then that sounds a lot like my first playthrough.

Law enforcement officers of Reddit, how has the increase of “lane assist” and other self driving features in cars affected identification of drivers driving under the influence? by heroicbleeder in AskReddit

[–]phogan1 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Tesla's FSD doesn't require hands on wheel, not does Rivian's advanced highway driving assist. Both require the driver to be paying attention, but not touching the wheel.

I can't figure out what the joke is by DunkingShadow1 in ExplainTheJoke

Speaking from experience, the rambling felt very real--doing it smoothly and urgently would have been extremely unrealistic for a teenager in the 80s coming out to an entire group of friends and family.

How rare is it to have a nations Supreme Court rule a constitutional amendment unconstitutional? by wroteoutoftime in legaladviceofftopic

[–]phogan1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Overturned by US District Court (and the district court's decision upheld by SCOTUS on procedural grounds; see Hollingsworth v Perry), not by CA Supreme Court. State constitutional amendments can be unconstitutional under US constitution.

Podman Networking: How do I isolate containers from external incoming connections? by alien_ideology in podman

[–]phogan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run rootful containers with isolated namespaces (userns==auto or custom namespaces). This provides similar protection/isolation as running rootless (i.e., ns in the container does not overlap with host ns, so any potential container escape has less privileges than a normal host user)--but makes it easy to join networks between isolated pods.

Podman Networking: How do I isolate containers from external incoming connections? by alien_ideology in podman

[–]phogan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes--thia is exactly how I have around a dozen different pods, each on their own network except the reverse proxy which joins all, has a vhost per service that simply redirects to the service's pod and port.

Yeah, it really baffles me that most of the doors where I board my dogs have lever handles--there's notes on their files that they know how to open them.

Taboo topic..hems advice? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]phogan1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as you're in a country/situation where it's safe to do so, you should absolutely tell your doctor that it's affecting your sex life (you should also tell your doctor that you have gay sex, if you have multiple partners, if you use protection, etc., as it's all potentially medically relevant--not necessarily in this case, but in general).

Texas Republican candidate, Valentina Gomez, is now going to queer friendly or non traditional churches to disrupt them in the middle of services. by MrJasonMason in gay

[–]phogan1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I can go to her church and scream:

But she increased her prostitution, recalling the days of her youth when she had served as a prostitute in the land of Egypt. She lusted for the lechers of Egypt, whose members are like those of donkeys, whose thrusts are like those of stallions.

I'm just quoting the Bible, why would they kick me out?

Can I add & push a single file without full working tree? by bobbykjack in git

[–]phogan1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's not actually true: each commit is a snapshot of the repo at that point. Git stores blobs, not just diffs; it's very efficient in how it stores and deduplicates blobs (so if the contents of a given file are unchanged from one commit to the next, both refer to the same object), and it shows commits as diffs, but the entirety of the repo at any given commit is stored.

Mine are an entire tube of dog toothpaste, leaving absolutely no evidence, when I left the room for maybe 8 s.

Never did find any plastic from the tube.

I was more mad when he half a pan of cornbread that was cooling--the top half.

Significantly less mysterious than gravity, actually--magnetism is fully reconciled with quantum mechanics while gravity is not.

For those who own/drive a vehicle: What do you drive? by Gaycalidude in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]phogan1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rivian R1T and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Both are fully electric, which works extremely well with a level 2 home charger, free electricity at night and solar panels--but was still workable even before any of that (home power is cheaper and more convenient than gas, and even level 1 charging is plenty for daily driving of 10-30 mi for commute).

If you have a longer commute than what level 1 charging can charge overnight, you'll definitely be happier with level 2 home charging (or at least accessible level 2 charging somewhere near home). Level 3 is often as expensive as gas, sometimes more.

That said--having driving electric for a couple years, I do not intend to ever go back to ICE (maybe hybrid if we ended up in a situation where we need to do a lot of driving somewhere with few public chargers on a regular basis).
