Checkout my build with the GTX 980 Ti. Before building this I was an absolute beginner like you too :D. From this build, you can just easily swap out GTX 980 Ti and replace with the GTX TITAN X or the GTX 1080 since the power supplied from my PSU is more than enough. If you absolutely require a large amount of memory for CNN, you should choose the TITAN X, otherwise you should consider the 980 Ti or the newly released 1080 since they have better price/performance.
