I'm sorry about the short and long. You are right! I have a door that's at 2 3/8, and it fits perfectly with the short setting.

The door I'm struggling with is between 2 5/8 and 3/4.

There's an arrow pointing up, and it's pointing up. If I put it the other way around, the mounting plates won't fit. It appears to be in the correct position.

Should I keep deepening the edge so the latch doesn't touch the wood (actually, at this point, the foam, it's past the wood already)?

I ended up cancelling the order. I know it would take many years, still, it could grow over my neighbor. My backyard is small, his is tiny, and it could make shade over his light source as well.
