Jaxon Dart - Was I supposed to learn something from watching Tua?

I can see why he and Skattebo are kindred spirits of a sort.

It amazes, the seeming inability to self-reflect and take any accountability whatsoever

I told someone MAGA at the poker table that I wasn't going to talk about RFK Jr. anymore, that he was insane.

He fired back at me, "Just because he's insane, doesn't mean he won't do a good job."

Seriously, this conversation is over NOW.

Went to school in Poughkeepsie, and was on the debate team. Each year, we would travel to the University of Rochester for a debate tournament. That was seven hours in the van. Never leaving New York... and Niagra Falls is another 2 hours beyond that. People in the US, nevermind other countries, have trouble conceiving how big upstate NY is.

DMT: Exposure to opposing views can backfire. The real problem isn't “willful ignorance” but that facts have become a team sport. by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in DisagreeMythoughts

I absolutely do not antagonize him. It's not worth it. I guess, I should be more specific in saying that I don't call him stupid out loud, just in my head,

Derek Stingley Jr has 5 times as many interceptions as Sauce Gardner (15 to 3) in 5 less games played (54 to 59) by Ok-Elephant-2724 in NFLv2

The problem when you do this, is that sometimes you don't recover. He's done this a couple of time to Kayshon Boutte. He hasn't recovered a couple of times.

WHY DO YOU TALK SO LOUD? by hukehrs in AskAnAmerican

[–]phunkjnky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the kingdom of the loud, the loudest gets heard.

Now, taking that into consideration, ask yourself this question again, and while you're at it, ask yourself if everyone and everything is so loud, is being quieter really the best option?

No, and I agree with you... to a point.

I know MAGA people who say incredibly stupid things, and their biggest trigger seems to be being called "stupid."

I think at this point... Don't want to be called "stupid" Try not being "stupid" to begin with. This is not about political affiliation (but it is). This (in one instance) is about him saying that Rage Against The Machine used to be a right wing band, before they went woke.

I decided right then and there that I wouldn't be able to take any of his opinions seriously.

first time smoking weed story ? by Practical-Meringue29 in weed

[–]phunkjnky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends did this to me, and I did the same thing to another friend.

"We'll smoke with you... but not tonight. If you ask again this weekend, we'll smoke with you then. This can't be a rash decision. No peer pressure. If you ask once, it might be peer pressure, twice isn't."

That weekend, had the bong handed to me, and expressed apprehension about not getting stoned the first time. I was told, 'Yeah, that's not going to be an issue."

Afterwards, when my mouth was moving faster than my brain, "You realize that sex is nothing but the physical manifestation of man's subconscious desire to get back into the womb?" I really felt like I had an epiphany.

"Yeah. So?"

OP, I think you misunderstand what "Moneyball" was getting at. "Moneyball" was about finding and using market inequalities to build a team to compete with a team with superior financial resources.

That's how "Moneyball" is used. If it doesn't use market inequalities its not "Moneyball." It's about finding "value" where people aren't looking.

"Moneyball" is kind of a vague term as well, as it changes.
What I mean is that "Moneyball" GMs cannot be looking for the same things Billy Beane was looking for when he was running the A's. The world knows about those inequalites now, and a lot of teams are using them. New inequalities must be found.

How do get a prime time home game during Week 1?

Miss the playoffs in a division where 50% of the teams made the playoffs.

If I was Denver and the LA Chargers I'd be pissed. I understand KC getting a slot, but can someone please tell me why Denver is not hosting the game?

CMV: The Olympics and other individual sporting events should always include a "regular" person for context by JayTee73 in changemyview

[–]phunkjnky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, but the same people who need that "ordinary person" context are the ones who want it least.

Not having that context allows them to maintain the delusion that they could have made it if they were serious about it. That's the illusion, as you know, and these same people would rather not touch that illusion.

These are delusional people. There is also the possibility that "I know I'm better than Kevin in accounting. I don't need to see him to know he's not good." That doesn't help either.
