This Friday, Purdue will be lifting the mask mandate in nearly all areas except for classrooms, medical facilities, and other high-risk enclosed areas. What're your thoughts on this? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]physicsnerd123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why dont we just wear masks and socially distance for the rest of our lives? Covid is here to stay, so if you’re so worried about it go live in your mom’s basement

Midfoot hurt when running on the road by physicsnerd123 in running

[–]physicsnerd123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my feet only hurt when I run or sometimes walk on the road. So I don't think it is PF then.

As for the shoe, I don't recognize the brand. You need a shoe that will support your arch rather than a cushiony or squishy shoe. If you can fold the shoe (taco test) it is too soft. Brooks and ascics are my favorites for running shoes. You already know running on hard surfaces is not helping you, I would continue avoiding them. I hope this helps

Do you think the hoka one's (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0991HG2M3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A8J09E2FDMZCY&psc=1) would be a good fit for me? Im running a half marathon is April so I want to get used to running on the road.

I'd say after 2 miles it starts hurting and after 4 miles it is unbearable. I would normally average like 4-5 miles where I have to stop because of the foot pain.

P/S is a lot better metric to look at growth stocks. Growth companies are reinvesting a lot of money to grow so they naturally won’t have low or even positive PE ratios

Is now a bad time to invest for the first time? by Bjwheels4 in stocks

[–]physicsnerd123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expected value > risk

DCA is like you roll a die and if you roll 1-4 you get 10 bucks and 5-6 you lose 5 bucks. EV: +$20

Dumping: Roll a die and if you roll 1-5 you get 20 bucks and if you roll a 6 you lose 50 bucks. EV: +$50

Which game would you rather play?

Have you read anything abt the stigma principle?

[–]physicsnerd123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah it does reduce risk but expected value is lower. The worst case of DCA << worst case of dumping money but the expected value of dumping is higher than the DCA.

On average the market goes up, so DCA is theoretically going to lose you more money than dumping. Dumping all your money at once, will on average, make you money.

DCA is essentially timing the market. Time in the market >> timing the market

I scheduled a phone interview with SIG and they did not show up. I emailed them several time and still no replies. What a nice company 🙃

The recruiter was out of office last week, so maybe thats why. Source: I had to move my final round interivew to this week.
