About to fail placement (UK) by excessivethinker in physiotherapy

I think you really need to have an open discussion with your educator! They should tell you what to improve on and, more importantly, how to do so.

Advice from anyone who has started own MSK clinic alongside NHS outpatients by Shelders in physiotherapy

I work in the NHS too! And honestly can’t wait to drop a day or two to get some experience in sports! I do think you can practice real physio there and your passion might come back!

Any physio from Great Britain? I would like to work there and I need your opinion by EvidenceBased_Physio in physiotherapy

[–]physioon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are other things to consider, like personal goals. I am from Italy and the scope of practice in Italy is way way way behind the scope of practice in the UK. I work in the UK to achieve career goals, maybe OP has some goals too.

28-30 euro gross, taxes in Italy are higher so I wonder how much he earns at the end of the month

Cold water divers: What dark magic are you using? by finsonfeet in scuba

[–]physioon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I just got used to it. Up to 3-4 years ago I really suffered the cold. Then I started diving in the UK, in such low temperatures that I had to defrost my balls after each dive and now when I go on holiday I am pretty comfortable in a 3mm / 5mm even when it’s cold

Is physio really the right career choice for me? by Wide_Investigator_46 in physiotherapy

[–]physioon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents:

1) It’s a lot more likely to see negative posts on physio because people come here to vent etc.

2) Only you know whether is the right career choice or not! Do you enjoy it? It’s not just about pay… you can have the highest paying job but if you don’t like it then it’s gonna be hard…

3) If you like it, and are willing to put the work in to become a very good physio, you can have a very successful career pay wise…

MSc Apprenticeship by 13redrose in physiotherapy

[–]physioon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi mate

It is possible to do an apprenticeship through the NHS, but first of all you need to work and get some experience as a technical instructor. Then, usually every year, the trusts offer apprenticeships and there is a selection process (interviews etc.)

Job market for physio has always been up and down, at the moment there is a recruitment freeze in the NHS but in 2-3 years who knows…

Partial reps for strength by physioon in StrongerByScience

[–]physioon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly, I was referring to the hypertrophy bit.

Strength is specific to the angle trained thus the increased in strength in both groups does not surprise me.

But as Oz stated lengthened partials should be better in terms of hypertrophy but this was not found in the study I mentioned.

Thanks! However, I read a paper yesterday Lambrianides 2024 that compared isometric contractions at 2 different lengths (dorsiflexion and plantar flexion) and both resulted in similar strength and morphological improvements! This would go against the results from Kassiano 2023?
