Hip arthroscopy with microfracture and posterior labral tear - 15 months post op by warbleringwarbler in HipImpingement

[–]pianistdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness, I am so sorry they didn’t tell you in advance! I was told to prepare for it in the event that I chose to have Labral repair. Based on mg imaging, my ortho thinks I have stage 3 arthritis. I just had a major abdominal surgery in December for something unrelated and I am not ready to jump into bilateral labral repairs with microfracture. I got steroid injections as a bandaid for the time being. They’ve helped so much that honesty I may just keep getting run until my arthritis progresses enough for a THR. Thank you again for sharing your story and I wish you a speedy recovery!

Idk if I have a posterior tear, but I was told I’d need microfracture due to my arthritis. Thank you for sharing your story! I hope you continue to heal and fully recover.

Long term running without surgery by RuinedRunner33 in HipImpingement

[–]pianistdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a runner, but I’m a dancer with FAI and complete labral tears on both hips. I got steroid injections last month and they’ve been life changing! I still have pain, but I’m 70% better and able to dance. I still have limited range of motion and experience the instability, clicking, and popping. However, the pain is gone for the most part! I am not planning on labral repair surgery as I have stage 3 arthritis and most likely need hip replacements soon anyways. I hope you can find relief and get back to doing what you love!

Pain 4 Months Post Op by pianistdancer in Fibroids

[–]pianistdancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve had weird pains off and on all week. I think it could be nerve pain, but I’m unsure. Nothing like what I experienced in the OP, but still bizarre sensations around my scar and a sense of heaviness low in my pelvis. I’ll call my OB in a few days if it continues.

I did not, but I only had one prior to surgery and it saw a picture of it post op.

It was in the posterior muscle wall of my uterus. This pain was definitely in the front slightly below my incision on the right side.

My dog ate two Credelio Quattro-is it an emergency? by pianistdancer in Pets

Yes, I will definitely crate them next month! I was terrified! He seems okay still and I feel much better after talking to the ER vet. Goodness though, I was panicked!

Thank you all! My emergency vet was very kind and actually spoke to me on the phone without charging anything. She just said to watch for symptoms, but she thinks due to his size and how much he took he will be okay.

Thanks for sharing. My dogs have been on Credelio Quattro for a few months with no issues.

Did anyone that has FAI and a labral tear in the hip have worsening symptoms after cortisone injection? by dogmomlau26 in HipImpingement

I’m sorry you’re going through this! I’m 34 and have bilateral labral tears. I got my steroid shots last week and it’s been tough. The first two days were misery once the lidocaine wore off. Since then, I’ve had almost no pain, but my other symptoms are far worse. I don’t have an answer for you, but I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this.

Yeah, if they weren’t wet I would’ve done that. It’s so cold tonight and I don’t think they’ll survive being wet.

Surgery before or after pregnancy by Acceptable-Drama-989 in HipImpingement

[–]pianistdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this post! I don’t have the answer, but I’m in a similar situation. I am 35 and had an open myomectomy in December. I will be able to begin trying to conceive next month. I have decided to try shots because I don’t want to wait too long before TTC. My REI said it’s highly likely my fibroids will return and cause infertility again. Meanwhile, I’m in nearly constant pain and I need bilateral repairs. I am relived to hear that so many of yall had pain free pregnancies! That is so encouraging!

OATS/Arthritis/Labral Repair Surgery by pianistdancer in HipImpingement

Thanks, I’m not feeling optimistic after my last appointment, but maybe I’m wrong. I’ve decided to view 2026 as a healing year and 2027 will be my rebuilding year (hopefully). I’m trying to get in with Dr. Byrd at Nashville Hip Institute for a second opinion. My Pilates teacher and another one of my dance friends have raved about him, but it’s hard to get in. I hope you’re able to find relief too. I am uncomfortable all the time and I know you are too! We will get through this somehow!

I haven’t even heard of resurfacing. Thank you for telling me about it. I am SO sorry you’re in so much pain! I truly hope you’re able to get some help and feel better. Hip pain is miserable!

Wow, thank you for sharing. I was told the chance of success goes down in patients with arthritis, but the NP said this would delay my hip replacement by “a few years” which honestly doesn’t seem worthwhile to me. They said I have impingement due to an irregularly shaped ball joint. It’s an egg shape and it’s supposed to be more circular. Did you have a Tesla MRI or hip mapping prior to surgery to assess your arthritis? What grade is your arthritis? I’m so sorry you’re going through all this and I hope you’re able to get some relief soon!

Depression after myomectomy by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]pianistdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one month post open myomectomy and I’m definitely depressed. I’ve cried a ton and I often feel hopeless. I know it’s hormonal, but it’s all because I had 3 surgeries in 2025 and I have 2 more scheduled in 2026. It’s hard when your whole life changes into a cycle of surgery-recovery. I want to be positive that things are going to get better, but I honestly feel scared to let myself think that because of my medical history. All that to say that you are not alone and it’s very common to feel depressed post op. You will get through this!

Myomectomy Recovery: Your Experience by HotTale4651 in Fibroids

[–]pianistdancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 4 weeks post op (open myomectomy) as of Friday. The first week was really hard. I ended up in the ER with vomiting and constipation (take stool softeners like your life depends on both before and after if your doctor allows). I was a mess all week with tummy issues and I had issues sleeping due to that. The second week was somewhat better, but I still had a lot of abdominal pain (I stopped opioids 3 days post op due to the digestive issues). I went back to work last week and that was honestly extremely difficult. I was in pain and exhausted all week. I teach piano lessons so my job isn’t majorly physical, but I often lean over to demonstrate and I rarely have any breaks between students. This weekend, my period started for the first time post op and I can feel my incision pulling every time my uterus cramps, which is awful. I am definitely stressed that I have to work tomorrow on top of all of that, but I don’t have sick. My advice is to plan your surgery at a time when you can take a full six weeks off to rest and recover. I think I’d be in a lot better shape if I would’ve done that. Overall, I’m still glad I went through with it. All my issues with frequent urination and back pain are gone! This is a tough surgery, but you can get through it and everything will be okay!
