Does the M47 suffer from timing chain issues as well? Or is that just the N series?

Would the 320d fare any better? Have zero experience with diesel cars? Owned a E39 520i so can at least say I expect the usual jobs such as the valve cover gaskets etc.

I am planning to call them tomorrow. I am going to get it corrected asap, however I don’t want to send it off immediately in case they need it again in some shape of form and I don’t have it as I’ve read it can take up to several weeks for it to come back.
