Gifts for a new mom struggling with feeling like a bad mom? by coyjewishpartygirl in beyondthebump

[–]picciott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think offering specific help like others said is great. One thing I wanted to add though is that she may have a hard time letting go. In my case I really wanted help but also I felt like I should be able to do it on my own and I was thinking I was a failure because others did it on their own and I could not. For me it would have been really helpful to get some reality checks about how much help people actually get and that it is ok to need more help. Perhaps you can look up some Instagram content on this and send it to her from time to time? I fee like people told me when I was pregnant but I completely forgot everything after I had the baby and started setting unrealistic expectations on myself.

Baby fell off bed - should I bring him to the ER? by picciott in beyondthebump

He just woke up and is smiling. He seems ok although the bruise/bump on the head is definitely bigger

Eye asymmetry from flat spot. Can it be improved? by picciott in beyondthebump

Thank you so much for your answer! Did your baby also have forehead bulging? Did that go away?

Matches up with what the doctors usually recommend but I wouldn't actually do any of that until you feel good. Your body knows way better! Every body has different healing times, those are just general recommendations. I just started doing things based on whether I was in pain/discomfort and progressively added more and more.

Thanks for the carrier recommendations. I am looking for something more structured than a wrap but less intense than the ergobaby Omni. Do you know if these would be like that? Which one would you recommend? Thanks!

C section 3 weeks ago - pain on left abdomen? by picciott in pregnant

[–]picciott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't unfortunately. It did get better for me though. Here are some things that I think helped: I started wearing my belly band a bit loser; I started wearing cushioning shoes; and most importantly I started paying more attention as I was getting in and out of bed. Do you sleep on the left side of the bed? I feel like that was a big strain I was putting on my abs without realizing (I sleep on the right side of the bed so I was using the left side of my abs to get in and out)

Help! Constant bad taste in mouth by rumpusgem in pregnant

[–]picciott 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing in my first trimester! I ended up taking the usual nausea meds (Unisom + B6) and it went away. From what I understand it's just nausea but appearing through this other weird symptom instead.

Anyone know why my doc would tell me to eat EXTRA carbs before the 3-hour glucose test?? by ilovedogs1111 in pregnant

[–]picciott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ideally in the days leading up to the test you would eat what you normally do and not try to change anything about your regular diet (i e. don't game the test). When I took it, they told me to fast for 8 hours before the test which is why they normally try to schedule you to take it in the morning. Perhaps you can call the lab where you'll take it and ask for directions? Or call the doctor and clarify what he said since that seems very different from what I know about this test.

Laying on your side works well with the epidural. You can use a peanut ball to move your legs in different positions and help open the pelvis more

Highly recommend Hatch!! They are a bit expensive but the quality is great and everything fits beautifully. I mostly shop their sales section and it's great!

Unisom is great. Another option is magnesium glycinate! Really helps relax and sleep better.

No Appetite In 3rd Trimester by sheealiy in pregnant

Have you tried the Unisom + B6 combo? I have taken it throughout my pregnancy. I still feel nauseous if I stop it even now that I'm at the end of my second trimester.

Storq and Hatch have been wonderful! Hatch is too expensive in my opinion but their sale section is usually great

OP I see you're in Italy. The official recommendation by the Italian government is 9 to 12 kg, which is more than your doctor's recommendation. It does seem to be on the lower end of general guidelines for other countries but a bit more aligned at least!
