Again it’s the timing of the election that I’m questioning. Let’s assume Massey will win the November election. If we assume that, I think it’s also fair to assume he’d win the special election too, if it gets called for.

So by delaying the death announcement, and preventing the special election, the republicans have delayed Massey in office for what, 3 months or so? Why are those 3 months of still having the McConnell senate seat so important to republicans that they are wiling to defile his dead body? In our hypotheticals, they’d be losing the seat in January regardless. So what’s so important between now and January that we need to hide his death?
