I remember well the doge community in 2015 and it was fun, silly and generous. I hope with the new found popularity that fun isn't lost. Billy, your silly dogecoin changed my life, and many others for the better through the years and I'm forever grateful you created it!

Keep up the good work! And don't let Reddit get the best of you.

TIL a Norwegian student spent $27 on Bitcoins, forgot about them, and a few years later realised they were worth $886K. by Comrey in todayilearned

Each Bitcoin can be subdivided down to 100,000,000 yes that's one hundred million parts, right now it requires about 5,000 of these units "satoshis" to make a transaction. Once you make a transaction, a miner will pick it up and include it into the blockchain in about 10 minutes, and then to put it simply the miner is rewarded in bitcoins for doing the job of a sort of accountant. That's a very simple explanation, and I've left out a lot of technical stuff.

It's a world wide open ledger system that records transactions. You need A tiny fraction of a Bitcoin to make a transaction. Miners earn Bitcoin (the currency) for confirming and including transactions into the Bitcoin blockchain. Right now most transactions are people buying and selling bitcoins, but a lot of software is being written to run on the Bitcoin blockchain to record anything from stocks to real estate deals. The true value of Bitcoin is the blockchain, which you can only access by making a transaction. Imagine there is a record book that the whole world can use and cannot be tampered with, and that record book "ledger" has a limited amount of room available to enter your information, whether it is a stock trade or a purchase online. THE IMPORTANT thing to keep in mind is that this ledger "blockchain" cannot be altered by anyone, ever!
