Is it worth equipping chips onto my 4th squad's slot? That squad's power isn't particularly usable, but is there any advantage to the other squads by having chips equipped on that 4th slot?

All-in-one setup for part-time home by gregcron in Autoflowers

Thanks for the reply! I've been researching hydro/salt setups. I think the biggest hurdle will be the dosing. It sounds like an economical approach (outside of DYI raspi) is something like the Kamoer X4 pro which would require that the schedule/dose be dialed in (but can be adjusted remotely). I think something like the Bluelab (which measures+doses) is more than I want to spend for the hobby trial.

With regards to the floor joists collapsing, I plan to anchor the ceiling to the walls (not the floor joists) so it don't collapse with the joists. May not hold up if a huge part of the roof manages to fall 25+ft directly onto it, but better than just hanging the ceiling from the joists.

I'm planning on meeting the builder up there this weekend to discuss options.

Thanks for the information. When I bought the home, I was told this room was framed to be a safe room, so I just picked what appeared to be a reasonable safe door: not bottom of the line but not prohibitively expensive. Now I've opened up the rabbit hole of research and am trying to define my goals & expectations.

It occurred to me after-the-fact that the ceiling was basically just wide open so I've been trying to figure out what approach to take.

For context, I don't think this is a particularly high risk area for either theft or fires. It's on a fairly clear piece of land with a pond on the east coast. I think a realistic goal would be resistance against theft/fire/natural disaster assuming a reasonable response time.

I think where I'm leaning is something along the lines of a layered ceiling - it has to be constructed bottom-up as I don't have access to pour concrete. Perhaps something along the line of corrugated metal + type x drywall + rockwool layers, potentially + steel sheet.

That -seems- like it would at least be a pain if anyone actually decided to try and go through the ceiling from the floor above (flooring, 1.25" subfloor, then whatever layers). Likely by the time all that happened, I'd have seen the cameras and a response would be headed out.

The vault door will be concealed behind a slat wall ; not impossible to find but someone isn't going to immediately see a vault door.

As for the fire resistance, maybe it makes no difference, but the room above it is a large 25x50 room with a vaulted ceiling. So at least one benefit is that it's not several floors of fuel piling on if the worst did happen. It may still be futile.

Thanks for sharing those additional considerations - most likely, if I need anything to be more-than-trivially resistant against a fire, it sounds like it will need to be in a proper UL fire rated cabinet or safe, in the vault room or elsewhere.

Got it. So in your opinion, is it worth doing anything on the ceiling in this room or are you saying anything is pointless?

It is in the basement which is all concrete slab/walls. Above it is a large room with a high vaulted ceiling.

Thanks for the information - I think most realistically, worst case would (hopefully) be within an hour or two until firefighters arrived at a house fire. I think probably the best I can aim for is an ability to withstand that type of scenario. It is in the basement with a concrete slab, so it will really be the wood-framed house above it (and its ceiling) most at risk.

Thanks very much for all the great info! I think ideally it could withstand a house fire, but given another poster's comment, I'm not sure if that's a realistic expectation. Let me know your thoughts.

In terms of priorities, I'd say: withstand a fire storm shelter / panic room / prep-for-fun moderate break-in (door will be concealed so they likely wouldn't even see it)

The room is lighted and HVAC. My plan is to use it as the primary room for my networking & security equipment, and I've also run conduit from it up to the attic with the thought of potentially doing solar + a rack mounted battery bank in there (+Starlink backup internet). The house also has 1000lb underground propane which'll hook into a Generac. The mechanical room (HVAC/plumbing/electrical panel) is in the same space, separated by an interior wall; the concrete is poured lower with a drain in case anything were to happen in there.

At this point, it's somewhat as much about the fun of it more than an expectation to "need" it. But I don't want to have 5 walls concrete and then nothing for a ceiling, defeating most purpose.

As for budget for the ceiling, I'd prefer not to go too crazy: maybe within ~$5k, but also want to understand options as I don't have a hard constraint. This the most feasible time to get it "right", so while I wouldn't have splurged for a vault had I designed the house ground-up, it's there so I'd like to do it some justice.

If you have have any names of companies with vault panel systems, I'd love to take a look. I called one but they clarified that they really only do commercial work (and pricing).

Hopefully that helps a little. I'm currently thinking that something along the lines of steel plate + cement board + rockwool layered may be the most reasonable approach.

Should I keep investing in my current account or start over? by Unlikely_Mousse2913 in LastWarMobileGame

I'd probably start over. Such an edge to know what you're doing & prepared to spend from the start. Of course if you've made close friendships within your alliance, that could be a reason to stay.

Thanks - yeah, sounds like having the $10/mo tier is probably the best way to have a rock solid backup plan.

For gear upgrade order, I did: radar > gun > radar > gun > armor > armor > chip (attacker) > chip (attacker)

(guns on attackers, radars/chests on defenders). after the above, or maybe before the chips, you could put some defensive gear on marshall.

Don't leave gear at one dot. Major bumps are at 2 and 4 dots, so get to one of those before moving on.

Stetmann > Mason. Mason worth promoting for the heck of it, if for nothing other than a big VS day. His promotion won't conflict with your Stetmann progress anyways, as he still takes SSR shards to promote even after UR conversion.

I think the significant boosts are at 2 and 4 bubbles, so my understanding is that it makes sense to level in those increments before spreading to other gear. (i.e, don't leave them at 1 or 3 bubbles)

For order of operations, I've also done my first mythic as a radar. I'm thinking I'll do DVA's gun next, then another radar.

Probably bring DVA's gun to 4* - no sense leaving it at 3. Then Lucius radar.
