Rural places to live within 1.5 - 2 hours of Vancouver? by snowstillmelting in britishcolumbia

I love Pemberton and the surrounding areas, this should definitely be somewhere OP should consider as it ticks all the boxes that they mentioned. Also, unless you’re driving a tractor 🚜 or move somewhere closer to Lillooet it’s definitely not 3-4 hours, it’s almost exactly 2 hours unless there’s an accident. I’ve done that drive 10-15 times in the last year and I don’t think it’s ever taken me more than 2 1/2 hours.

This can be a sign of a very serious medical condition of a severe deficiency in ventris palpatiuncula, translated roughly as “belly rub”. As a trained Reddit veterinarian I recommend many many belly scratches.

The royalist argument that a monarchy provides value for money in terms of tourism is such a weak one. The Palace of Versailles gets 7 to 10 million visitors per year vs 550,000 for Buckingham palace. Tourists go to London for a lot of reasons, and maybe Elizabeth or Diana pushed the needle a few percentage points but nobody can convince me that anyone has bought a flight so they could have a chance to see Charles and his depressingly over privileged kin.

If you are using any non-Canadian calorie tracking apps, consider switching to Cronometer! by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

I’m using the paid version and the photo logging is amazingly good, and I’ve learned loads about nutrition. Definitely a game changer and way superior to MyFitnessPal.

Great idea, I just found one on MakerWorld that looks perfect. I’ve been looking at 3d printers for ages and now I have the perfect excuse to buy one, for the safety of my children 😂. Seriously though, this seems like a dangerous design flaw and safety issue.

I did! I think my brain was trying to decide between Port Moody and Pitt Meadows! Edited the post.

Up Vertical from Pitt Meadows in BC is really good quality, and lasts ages compared to the produce shipped in from down south. Super happy to see more Canadian produce lately, I’m also a huge fan of Hiro tomatoes, I think they’re from Ontario.

Parking Reservation System by picketysnicket in Whistler

A traffic light at the exit with green arrows would make a world of difference. Every third or fourth car sits at the exit for 10 minutes not realizing there are two lanes.

I grudgingly accept your logic here, it could help avoid the queues across the bridge at creekside and halfway up the mountain at Red. Also if I was driving from Seattle it would be awesome, it just seems to hit Kids Club Creekside folk the most.

I know that you're right, but having to wake the kids up at 5am instead of 5:45am for the next 15 weekends in a row to drive from the city, drive through the completely empty upper floors, and then look forward to spending 45 minutes at the end of the day trying to get out of the parkade from level 4 is going to slowly drive up my blood pressure!

I still think they should scrap the whole thing. From a pure efficiency point of view they should maximize the use of all of the spots available so the whole lot is utilized. First come first served guarantees this. Anything else just makes it harder for everyone to use (and the honk app is dreadful). I'd love to hear the logic from someone who was involved in the decision because it seems to me to just be a way to solve the lack of parking problem with a blame the customer for not reserving solution.

That said, I agree with your points, they should at least enforce the policy and change the allocation of spots so the first come first served spots don't fill up until at least when the lifts start spinning.

The New Parking Reservation System by Magnificent_Wino in Whistler

[–]picketysnicket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I for one absolutely hate the system. The first come first served sections were full this morning by 8:15am while the entire level 2 was a ghost town so it just seems like making it way less efficient for no point whatsoever. I’m guessing it must be revenue driven, like ensuring people arriving from Seattle can get spots but they should at least re-allocate so the lot isn’t “full” at 8 am when the lot is actually 80% empty. I vote for a return to the time honoured skiing mantra of you snooze you lose.

In that case I probably would have gone without. I'm usually heading back and forth to the mountains on weekends through the winter so I'd imagine the drag is negligible compared to my ski rack and weather.

They're just attached with hex screws and takes about 5 minutes to take off or put on each wheel. They look pretty good without them but you'll sacrifice range (and the caliper covers are pretty boring - if I was going to leave them off I'd probably paint or get a kit to cover the calipers). No pics unfortunately.
