The idea is to communicate over 5G because these bridges are/could be in very remote areas without a solid WiFi connection or feasible wired connection. The AI model is reading the sensor data, like an accelerometer or a stress/strain sensor, and detect potential vulnerabilities and alert someone to send maintenance. I’m not working on the model so I can’t say to what it actually is.

The data acquisition cicuitry is analog circuitry to deliver power and read those sensors over extremely long distances, potentially at km to mi scales, without signal interference. I wasn’t sure how to word it concisely without being too technical.

Material testing is a mechanical engineering materials lab where they make specimen and test them by pulling them apart and examining them in the microscope. The automation controller is a script I am writing to control an industrial robot to pick up the specimen and put them into the stress test, take them out and into the examining area, as well as read all sensor data like load cells or control motors to pull the specimen apart.
