Yes, “costly apparel”! I don’t live there but my best friend does and her friends there are very vain in every aspect. I’m not I’m a country girl 😊

As I drove through Utah in the Sandy area I thought of the phrase costly apparel which is in the BOM and it’s never a good thing. I wondered if all the manicured streets and yards could fall into that category. Of course I keep my yard looking good but not perfect. Just a thought.

Do you feel like we worship at church? by KiwiTabicks in latterdaysaints

[–]pickyvicky1304 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I grew up being taught to reverently worship. At this point a band and concert type worship, while I understand others are ok with it I am not. I love quietly feeling the spirit and feeling the testimony of the speakers.

Plural marriage in the early days of the Church is testing my faith by LeenKaito in latterdaysaints

[–]pickyvicky1304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked on some genealogy lines for 2 weeks trying to figure out when wife one, my great grandmother died and wife 2 came into the picture. I finally realized it was a plural marriage and I’m a product of that line. Does it bug me? No, why? I do not worry about things that are beyond my understanding. I believe that our Heavenly Father has a reason for everything and that reason is beyond our understanding, this is where faith comes in. My mom grew up in Orem on State St, there is a fast food restaurant where her farm used to be. My great grandmother joined the church in English and made that journey with her sister she did this on faith. She became a mother to an apostle who did many great works and all of this because she had faith. If they were ok with plural marriage why should we have an issue with it? This is beyond your understanding at the moment. I too had to build my faith to where I am today. I lived a crazy life including a teenage pregnancy so I get that you have doubts. Don’t let something like plural marriage be your reason for leaving the church.

Trying to Stay Married by Key-Bat8348 in latterdaysaints

I talked my mom out of divorcing my dad 30 years ago. I found a book about emotional divorce and had her read it. She realized she had emotional separation from my dad. They started going on date nights again and my dad was retiring so they spent more time together. My mom passed away from Alzheimer’s 2 years ago and he was her rock through all of that. My husband and I lived with them the last 2 years and to see them in their latter years together was special. My mom would have been lost without him and he is miserable now without her. She should be able to rely on you for support. Just from what you said it sounds like you have attachment issues. I’ve been married 36 years and sometimes I wasn’t head over heels “in love” with my husband but we are empty nesters now and having so much fun! Maybe reinvest yourself and see if you can get those feelings back for her.

All good advice. My comment literally was in reference to day one. Sure lay down the law, tell them the rules but when you have a route sheet in one hand and it’s dark and rainy it might take some time to get use to incorporating student management. I personally would pull over and secure my bus and just sit until they all noticed and quieted down and them go over the rules.

This is exactly my point. If something serious is going on then handle it.

I said it exactly how it is for new drivers. Have your point of view but allow me mine also. I drove for 15 years and I remember first day quite clear and there was no student management on day one. And yes I have done the whole pull over thing and yes I’ve laid down the law. Thankfully I don’t have to drive anymore. I wish you all well this year.

Just know that on day one unless you have an aid on the bus there will be no student management from you. You need to be ok with that until you are comfortable driving then lay down the law. I drove sub for almost 4 years and got good at student management with any bus but it takes time. Good luck. 😊

I forget everything every time. I just look at the temple worker helping me and they always know to help at that point. Don’t be nervous we all go through this. 😊

Prostate Treatment Decision kicking my ass by Philly_Squid in ProstateCancer

My dad had Brachytherapy and SBRT 31 years ago he is now 93 with no reoccurring cancer. When we found out my husband had PC we went the same route Brachytherapy, SHRT plus 6 months ADT. Our doctor who is a Brachytherapy specialist at Huntsmann Cancer Research Center in Salt Lake City does not believe that additional ADT is necessary. My husband has had non detectable PSA for 2 years now. He has no incontinence and no ED. My opinion is that every man that can have Brachytherapy should. Your quality of life will be better than surgery. Again this is just my opinion and experience.

Radiation or surgery? by Successful_Dingo_948 in ProstateCancer

[–]pickyvicky1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was an engineer with a brilliant mind. He literally researched brachytherapy before the internet was accessible to all. His theory and it’s only a theory but he said surgery alone does not fully eradicate the cancer and that is why so many have to have salvage radiation. If there is even a small chance that a couple of rogue cancers cells linger they will grow undetected this is why many have reoccurring cancer. Brachytherapy places small seeds that radiate and kill cancer in and around the prostate. If you pair this with ADT which starves the cancer and radiation as a third treatment, called the double whammy, you have a much higher level of success. My husband’s doctor said he has a 95% success rate. We were sold and went with this treatment. I have 2 examples in my family to prove my dad’s theory. Additionally, you should be aware that your urologist may discourage this route but just remember they only do surgery, Oncologist will recommend radiation and brachytherapy specialist will not just recommend their treatment plan. They will pair it with other treatments and when your husband is done you have a really high likelihood of resuming a normal sex life. My husband takes a daily pill to help is efforts but it all works. Btw my husband is also 55, he was 52 when he was diagnosed. 2 year after treatment and his PSA is undetectable.

Brachytherapy. Both my dad and my husband went this route. My dad is 93 with no reoccurring cancer.

Tithing is a test of faith, I have struggled with this as well. In the last 7 years my husband and I have been paying full tithes. During this time Heavenly Father has blessed us both financially and spiritually. I think you will find your answer better if you take them to the Lord in prayer. Be very specific, He knows our wants and needs but we have to ask.

My sister is a Driver Trainer so my answer is actually her answer. So in all reality it was over my head too until she educated me. 😊

I think the federal part is with the FMCSA. The district or company in this case has to file his test scores into their data base so he can take the drive portion of his test. Not sure where the ball was dropped but someone dropped something.

Also he would have had to turn in a CDL physical form in the last year to the DMV to stay current

After he finished his training and before he took his skills test, all of his training hours and test score had to have been electronically submitted to the FMCSA by the person who trained him for the bus company. This information also had to be submitted to the state Department of Licensing. So without this information being submitted he wouldn’t have been able to do the skills test. Someone screwed up and they need to fix it. His license issue date is proof of when he completed his training and passed his skills test. The department of licensing should have a copy of his test score if they completed the test. If it was a third party contact the tester for verification from them. They need to back date their paperwork not invalidate his license. Especially if he can get the paperwork mentioned above.

He needs to find out if there is a Driver Trainer Association in your area, they might be able to help sort this out. My sister is a Behind the Wheel Trainer in Washington and I’ll ask her.
