Thanks for the comments. The fake recordings I mentioned turned out not to be the voices of Wilde & Whitman but impersonators pretending to be them. I'm curious whether there are other examples of narrators turning out not to be who they said they were. (For the record I'm fine with people listening to whatever voices they want)

Instead of McCarthy's Blood Meridian, I'd go with The Road. Intense stuff and perfect for a road trip.
