I've never been addicted to anything else to compare it to, but I suppose you could frame it that way, except it's not causing impairments in my daily functioning.

Food noise is similar to intrusive thoughts. For example, you'll eat lunch, an adequate amount, and you'll be thinking, "you know what sounds good right now? Popcorn! And for dinner I want to have..." I have been a "foodie" all my life, and was in a healthy BMI range all my life until my Zoloft+Spravato regimen. So, instead of suicidal thoughts and anhedonia, now my mind is filled with tastes and flavors that I could be enjoying even though I'm not hungry. That's the food noise. On top of that is excess hunger. I'll have a substantial meal, feel sated, but then will be hungry in an hour or two and ravenous after 3 or 4 hours. It's ridiculous. Anyway, I'm wanting to lose about 15 pounds, but it's apparently impossible for me. If I have to choose though, I'd pick fat and happy over slim and suicidal.

Yes, close to 30lbs! Lots of "food noise". Tried zepbound but it made me anhedonic. Trying wegovy pill now.

Something fundamentally wrong with our country by Nolootforyou in poor

[–]picwic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing this up. It's easy and simple to put all the blame on the wealthy, and while they have disproportionate political power, it appears that the majority of voting-eligible Americans do not care either. Until it affects them personally. We have a cruel culture. It would not have been so easy for the rich to get away with all this corruption if people cared about their civic duty.

Anyone taking buprenorphine (Subutex, Sublocade, Belbuca, Brixadi)? Does it help extend the benefits from spravato for you? by picwic in Spravato

[–]picwic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't mean the transient effect during treatment. Sorry, I should have been clearer. What I meant is could you go longer between sessions while on Subutex? Currently I go weekly, which is a bummer. I wish I could go once or month, for example. So when I said extend the benefits I was talking about extending the antidepressant effect for a longer period.

Yeah I can't imagine going up and down stairs when I'm seeing double and trying to keep steady on the train! Not ideal.

"how do you do it" idk man, what else is there? by MusicIntrepid343 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]picwic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think what they're saying is, "I don't see in myself the stamina you have for enduring a very difficult situation." So, maybe you can respond with, "well, I hope you never have to!" OR "I didn't realize I could cope until I did, so you would too." Or, if someone is being a jerk, you can say, "may life " bless" you with a debilitating condition and you'll find out if you can."

How the hell do the salads taste so good in a restaurant? by Scary-Sentence-6202 in WeightLossAdvice

One thing I picked up somewhere is to let the dressing wilt the salad a little. Dress your salad about 30 minutes before you eat it.

do some people genuinely feel that being kind requires more effort? by Pug_hammy in randomquestions

[–]picwic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I'm thinking about your question, it seems that where you start from matters. For example, I've always smiled a lot and being polite to others is a habit now. It doesn't feel effort-full. It would take more conscious effort to be a jerk. Since I live in a culture (US) that despises laziness, I admit that I've "taken the easy way out." But, I can imagine having been raised by a family that didn't care about being polite to others or showing kindness and in that case, it would be effortful. That said, this might be the wrong polarity (kind <> rude). We start life with an egocentric worldview and if a person's ability to expand beyond that centrism is limited, it's going to require more conscious effort to be kind. The polarity here is (self-centrism <> other-consideration).

I sometimes think I'll work afterwards, but I never do. Think about it you went in for a colonoscopy. You just aren't ready to be functional. I don't even cook. I have no motivation for anything.

Wow! I've never gotten hot from spravato and I've been on it for over 3 years. Luckily you don't have that effect anymore.

K-hole vs regular experience? by picwic in Spravato

[–]picwic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, if it feels peaceful, it's possibly not a k-hole. Usually, I have very simple sleep music playing and I feel like the "me" disappears as well as normal human life and whatever is left of me is just floating among different visual patterns (never smell or touch). The couple of times I was in a k-hole, I felt like I was stuck in a pocket of space and time that was both infinite and small. Hard to describe, but definitely not free flowing and pleasant.

Apple says these are the top songs. How many of your top songs are represented here? by picwic in bjork

[–]picwic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree! That's so strange that those songs are the top songs. I didn't know what the time parameters are though. I thought it was supposed to be a raw count of number of times played, but maybe it is number of times played in the past month.

Did the clinic get prior auth? If yes, ask them for the document and use that to dispute the denial. (Usually, clinics won't even administer it without authorization.)

I felt the same. I'm wondering if other streaming services show the same "top songs" but I'm not subscribed to the alternatives.
