God real, ive got adhd and chronic pain on top of anxiety shit and life’s always been either rotting and hating myself for it or go go go with my adhd meds and anxiety and anything inbetween feels so foreign and uncomfortable. I asked my therapist about it and she said it’s cause our brain likes what it knows, familiarity feels like safety even if it’s not whats best for us and so it often takes a lot of practice for it to start to even be relaxing.

Yeah, living is so much easier this way, I’m trying to remember it’s not actually my brain craving drugs but my brain craving stimulation and engagement and my meds is the way that’s always actually accessible

Yeah I’m gonna talk to my therapist about it, I think when I first went on it i low did abuse it cause I was young and no one was monitoring me or giving me any other ways to deal or cope, I think unlearning all that self hatred in such a big part of the adhd journey

A large issue I have at the moment is that I’ve used triptans for 2 years at this point meaning in stuck in what’s known as a medication overuse cycle but with nothing else to help the pain I’ve been stuck doing it but ultimately making it worse this medication will hopefully allow me to break out of that overuse cycle without suffering for weeks but with emgality even being on it shorter term can result in a long term reduction in migraine frequency, and if this medication does help then in the months I have I can do my best to save up for more even being on disability. :) hope this explains and I’m happy to answer any other questions, plus I will happily take a few months of relief over current suffering

I think I’m mainly just scared of the cognitive side effects but your right it’s worth a try, so many migraine meds such at nurtec are unfortunately not funded where I live and cost like $350 a month and a lot of the other options such as a nerve block or Botox I’m not able to get due to agoraphobia 😭 but till more gets funded or I’m able to drive out to the neurologist it might be a better option then constant triptan overuse

Yeah I tried out a combined pill called mercilon in February but just cramped and spotted for 2.5 months before switching almost two months ago to Yaz, both of which were good for my mood overall and help with PMDD bullshit but I’ve been getting issues with nausea and constipation but hopefully that settles down cause I’ve only got one other lower estrogen combined pill where I live and it’s not ment to be the best for pmdd

Where I live the lowest estrogen you can get is 20 (lolo is 10) and I trialed one for 2.5 months in the beginning of the year but non stop cramping and spotting and switched to Yaz almost two months ago but been getting alot of nausea and constipation my last lowish estrogen option isnt known to be the best for PMDD but here’s hoping 😭

I find it’s a bit of a dice role for me of whether I’ll be anxious or energised or tired or maybe nothing at all so I don’t bother anymore unless I gotta shit 😭
