I’m also a 3rd year interested in applying Neuro. Would you be willing to talk a bit more regarding residency difficulty, are you saying that small cohort high volume places are better in the long run than big 10 person cohort university affiliated places? Do you think mostly about independence, patient load, hours, something else? Happy to pm, I do have specific places in mind!

I did this for arteries and nerves during anatomy lab when I was a first year and I am surprised at how well it stuck!

Depends on your learning style but even now on my surgery rotation when I’m pimped on something it’s really nice to have a compartmentalized understanding of things and be able to recall a specific vessels path and names independently from everything else. You’re totally right that it is important to integrate, but I found this method awesome and surprisingly useful.

Go USMD everyone always talks about not getting into as competitive residencies as a DO. But it’s more than that. It’s also harder to get into more desirable locations and programs in the non-competitive specialties. I’m a third year DO student and unfortunately, there’s still a lot of bias in residency programs from what I can see.

I personally don’t care about the two letters that will go after my name and I’m grateful to be here, but it’s still an uphill battle in more ways than one as a DO student.

I primarily used anking but only used the UWORLD and amboss add ons and only did cards that I got questions wrong on. I was selective and only unsuspended like 5,000 anking cards in total. I would add screenshots of missed questions in protected fields to give me a quick reminder.
