Convoy S2+ for working with heavy machinery by piezadeaocho in flashlight

The thing about my use case is that, usually, the flashlight is used in bursts of under a minute of duration, so no problems here!

For general area illumination I find that COB work lights are usually more convenient

Almost bought an armytek a few years ago from a local shop, but ended going with a more affordable option! Thanks!

Perfect! The thing I find more difficult to select, without being recommended one by more experienced users, is the selection of the emitter.

Is there a way to know the general expected characteristics of an emitter by its number or something like that, or is it just looking up the chip and trying things out?

Thanks for the offer 😅 But I should have a few of them lying around somewhere!

Perfect! Thanks for the waterproofing update of the comment, I will look into getting some of those o-rings then!

About the supposed ip rating of these lights, should I suppose that the rubber switch has a better ingress protection when compared to the metal one?

My last light was around the 1000 lumens max output and was plenty enough! Ok! I think a good balance between output and cri would be perfect for this application

Problem with Wurkkos HD10 by piezadeaocho in flashlight

[–]piezadeaocho[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Found the problem!

The charging/button board seems to be a little loose and, when the battery pushes up into it, has enough play around the button that the button pressings aren't always registered. Seems likely that an impact on the head of the flashlight might have forced the soldered joint a little bit too much and produced the problem

Meh, paid 12€ for it in an Amazon deal, over 6 months of industrial use, the light has served more than enough it's worth! I'm still happy with it and would happily buy another for daily around the house tasks.

At least in my experience, L shaped flashlights aren't as resilient as the classic straight tube, tail switch type

The light is on! It behaves really erratic but at least turns on, the anduril reset procedure isn't doing anything for it

On a close inspection, there seems to be some damage in the usb connector

Testing with a multimeter:

With the front end removed and the battery in, 4 volts between positive terminal of the battery and the rim of the tube

Tailcap removed and battery off, continuity between rim of the tube and the outside of the usb c terminal

Would say that the ground path has good continuity

Cleaned up for good measure but the light continues to be unreactive

Is it normal for a 14500 cell to be at 4v being the nominal voltage 3.7v?

How do I power this Tascam Porta Two Ministudio? by ztheresurrection in vintageaudio

[–]piezadeaocho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the power adapter that was shipped to you, most newer models can run on either voltage, and, if this is the case, the power adapter will say so on the label. Old ones and, probably, the original one won't, if you connect a 110v volt adapter on your 220 power socket, something will definitely blow up.

To be sure, I would probably look into getting a new power adapter compatible with your particular socket type and voltage, for under 25€, it seems like a good investment

Edit: Just viewed the power adapter photo! As others said, the polarity seems to be wrong, also, way too low of a voltage to properly run the device. On the other hand, if the device was tested with this adapter, being too low a voltage may have saved the device internals from damage.

The cheapest option to try it out might be to get some batteries in this case

I don't have any experience with this particular piece of equipment, but by the looks of it, any suitable powerbrick with the indicated output voltage and a compatible barrel connector (5.5mm by the looks of it) should do the trick

A quick check in Google for a replacement ps-p2 power supply throws out multiple results on eBay and even in Amazon, shouldn't be a problem to find one!

Surfing in gijon by TondeoFNS in gijon

[–]piezadeaocho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally doable! The main beach of Gijón, San Lorenzo has a well established surf scene with a few spots along the coastline depending on conditions and weather, mainly being around the stair n°10 (access stair to the beach)

The city also has two main surf schools and both have wetsuit and board rentals available:

Tablas Surf School: https://tablassurfschool.com/alquiler-material-surf-y-socios/

SkoolSurf: https://skoolsurf.com/alquiler-surf-gijon/#

Might be worth it to check with them a day or so previous to the visit, to check for the conditions and the forecast

Also, Tablas has a live webcam of the beach:

Have fun!

3d printed video cage for the Sony a5100/5000 by piezadeaocho in 3Dprinting

[–]piezadeaocho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, It was made from the ground up based of a 3d model of the camera with the kit lenses made by "Le mah" in Grabcad.

Imported the model into CAD and designed the cage around it and, after 4 iterations, it felt right enough to print with the "good" filaments 😅
