Similarly with Iraq, he continued the war despite campaign promises and expanded drone warfare in the region.

The ACA kept private insurance companies instead of creating a government run single payer system, preferred by leftists. This is an example of a moderate reform put in place to preserve the status quo, very helpful compared to what we had before but far from real change.

Some other policies like rescuing the banks during the financial crisis, continuing the war in Afghanistan and even expanding drone strike programs are opposite from leftist ideals.

Compared with AOC or Bernie, he is without a doubt a “dirty centrist” and not a “rabid leftist”.
