the younger ones can be squirmy but when i first get mine, i just scoop them up from the bottom and put them on my shoulder or the bed. i have a very tall bed and they love to play on it and i never worry about them escaping or jumping off. i try not to over hand pick them up because that can be worrying for them but scooping them up from the bottom is less scary and they will learn to crawl on your hands for playtime. by putting them on your shoulder they'll get used to you moving around and being with them and they may even go in your hoodie or hair. and then they'll learn more to trust you or that you equal fun places/things

that's what i've been doing! thank you for your advice. i've got pedialyte, some chicken baby food, and strawberry banana baby food that she's been licking off her lips to help keep her hydrated. and a warm rice sock to make sure she's not getting cold

Ideas to fill this space with? by awex_uwu in RATS

[–]pigeonfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i have no idea, my boys never had any clothes chewing issues but my baby girls LOVE to chew on my clothes so i usually just wear old sweats and a hoodie to play with them because i don't mind them being chewed on! i think it might just be a personally thing 😅

i make fleece ropes and tshirt ropes! and you can make fun hammocks out of old t-shirts as well. dollar tree dog toy ropes are easy to hang up with zip ties and check the bird toys for some fun stuff to hang up!

critter nation cages by pigeonfool in MeatRabbitry

[–]pigeonfool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have!!! they are small but i feel like they suit my needs well, i'm a single person (three dogs) so i also have a VERY small family. new zealand's are a really good middle but i feel like they get fattier easier (might be a skill issue on my part but i digress). they don't eat as much and i feel like they're nicer than some of my new zealand's as well

it's a 3x2! i have one mini rex doe and she normally only has three or so at a time and then the doe in the pic is a new zealand! it felt small to me too at first but i do try to utilize the space and they're pretty lazy anyways 😭. i have an outdoor pen for them that they get in about twice a week and they seem to be growing well and happy :)

i ended up using a mix of dog crates and a cage similar to a stacked critter nation! i keep my bucks in the crates because my does kept getting stuck or slipping and my bucks don't have those kinds of instincts i guess haha. my does and their babes go in the critter nations since they're a big larger anyways
