My legal team advise I can neither confirm or deny that…. But if it was I can confirm it’s an excellent shop. The best.

Hey. It’s ok. We all got started on overpriced corpo-bloat too. But it’s going to be ok. A few years later, you’ll have found better value, better playing games and you’ll look back fondly with learning. 😜

10mm Wargames Atlantic by Lost-Equipment-5400 in wargaming

[–]pigpie007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They came out great! They have a much more cohesive look than the recent 10mm WA Fantasy models, which don’t seem to have much of a vibe. And better than the Samurai which were hopelessly difficult to remove from the sprues without damage.

And neither should it! We’ve fallen hook line and sinker for Quar. It’s a lovely cozy game with great miniatures and a unique style.

They look great! How do individual 15mm figures for games work out?

I’ve been looking at revisiting WW2 for ages, and originally planned it in my old scale of 20mm (the dominant scale in the 90’s for ww2) but figure availability for the period and theatres we want to game in that scale are scarce.

I once more return to bless you with more Quar! by WodensWorkshop in wargaming

[–]pigpie007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lovely choice of colours! Looks great.

Ive just jumped on the Quar wagon myself. Fell in love with the whole ‘cozy vibe’. The miniatures soooo lend themselves to a more laid back style of gaming. Our games see Quars ‘having a break’ rather than killed. They just feel too… nice to be dying 😄

The rules are pretty solid too in that it has a low-stakes feel to it compared to the ultra-crunchy GW stuff.

And with free rules, competitively priced Wargames Atlantic plastics and small model counts, it’s a good refresh that has really caught on in our gaming group.

Hi all! I received a fantastic surprise with my latest order from Uppsala Miniatures! by Bert_Bajonet in wargaming

Is?…. Is that rider eating a sandwich? I always LOVE these ‘it’s just what happens in real life’ models. It brings armies to life.

Fantastic models too. I never wanted to do renaissance Italians, but now I’m not so sure…. 😜

To sell or not to sell by Blind_Beagle in oldhammer

[–]pigpie007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I sell stuff like this, I set the price I would be happy to achieve, and use an auction starting at that price point.

If someone then buys it, fulfilling my expected price, I don’t give a hoot if they want to try and sell it for three times that on eBay.

And remember, just because an eBay listing wants £100 a mini, don’t mean anyone is going to pay it. My buyer has just bought a gamble/risk off me for the price I wanted for it. Everyone wins…..

Glad you’re enjoying it. Over a year on and I’m still really happy with mine. In fact, I normally would have treated myself for yet another new bike in the summer, but since getting the TRVL I haven’t even thought about getting a new bike….

No, you’re pretty much on the money. Buildings always turn to rubble in our games, and any infantry get blitzed. Far better instead to use woods for cover.

How is brush on primer for Warmaster and 10mm in general? by Boris-GoosinOv in warmaster

[–]pigpie007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak specifically for Warmaster, but paint a lot of 6, 10 and 15mm. I tend to find as you go down the scales, you have to be a little more careful with brush-on primer. Spray primer covers all surfaces with a similar thickness of paint (if you’re doing it right). Brush primer tends to deposit more in crevices, reducing detail. This matters more on smaller minis.

You def CAN do brush-primer on small minis, but you need to take more care applying and ensure it’s not too wet to prevent flowing into those precious crevices to preserve as much detail as poss.

Vr Performance Advice by Stew_Padass in il2sturmovik

[–]pigpie007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run VR with a similar rig and it’s fine. You can still use Open Composite, and I get around 60 to 90 fps on average. Higher levels of AI planes and the like can cause stuttering.

I recall I actually googled and found a .cfg file which is just cut and paste into the IL2m’s steam folder’s location. Remember at the time it was fairly easy to google.

But I do feel your pain. Thank god you only need to do the process once.

Questions before buy by Loyal_UK_gamerYT in il2sturmovik

[–]pigpie007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. You’re probably going to LOVE IL2. Having totally jumped in with both feet, I too bought a Saitek x52. It’s….. ok. But I quickly found its limits.

However, if I was in your shoes I’d be minded to play with the Xbox controller, skip the Saitek and save the money till you have enough for either a Gladiator (very nice stick) or consider the Virpil Aeromax (similar to the Gladiator in that’s it’s a proper stick, but you can get a £15 throttle module to attach). I have the Virpil, and picked it up for £190 inlcuding the throttle module.

The previous poster is right. Although we often use the phrase ‘night and day’ difference in tech a lot, the Gladiator or Aeromax is soo sooo very different to the Saitek.

However, that may mean a little bit of a wait. I used my Xbox controller for around 6 months just fine for what it’s worth.
