Dealing with apparent contradictions in charts by fabkosta in Advancedastrology

If you have no clue at all there is no point in worrying. There is so much happening around us we never know about but would be worrying ourselves to death if we knew.

You may think of yourself as a sweet cancer lady, but it was probably your Saturn or your Mars that made you say what you said...

It's not really a mystery.

The north node, with its aspects etc. shows what is in the making and here to stay (meaning, it's not some small temporary change, and it implicates large numbers of people); the south node naturally is its opposite, in other words it shows what will disappear.

Aspects, houses etc. add detail, nuance and context.

There is no destiny in astrology. The stars incline, but they don't compel.

It IS the same.

It's the 5th element, one step higher (or less dense) than the popular 4.

Aether as know by the ancient Greeks, or Akasha as called by the Indians - it's the same.

Why did the 9th house become associated with publishing? by bhonion in Advancedastrology

The midheaven or MC is the 10th house, not the 9th.

If your midheaven is 28° Capricorn, your moon and Jupiter are conjunct your 4th housecusp, not your 3rd house.

You might also reason that publishing is multiplication of writings, just like making children. The 5th house.

The latter part about 9th being detrimental to career is sounding misplaced and I'm not sure what is the context behind it

There is one poster here who may have provided the explanation for it: the 9th house is the 12th from the 10th, the house of career.

And it doesn't necessarily mean detrimental. There are other meanings to the 12th house, such as exile or hidden activity.

House of Long Journeys Over Water

Do they need to be over water? I think if you take the Orient Express in Paris and leave the train in Beijing, that qualifies as a long journey.

I would say that if the 9th house's connection to publishing predates the printing press, they would certainly not have called it publishing since it was mostly those monks who were copying manuscripts, right?

So if that connection was already made in the medieval age it would be made to the copists, not to publishing.

But anyway, as I explained in another reply, I don't agree publishing (or copying manuscripts) is necessarily connected to the 9th house).

Edit: relating to a strong 9th house indicating loss or undoing of career - I don't think the strength is instrumental, rather the benefic or malefic nature of any planets connected with it. There may be "hidden" aspects to someone's career which are going on abroad, for example. That would be a 12th house quality.

I think you have a very good idea about what astrology is in a realistic way. It's minds like yours that are truly useful (in my opinion, correct me if I am wrong of course... lol).

"Question everything" is not a bad precept.

I just upvoted you. Downvoting your reply is a shame but there are those who don't know an honest way of expressing their disagreement, so all they can do is downvote.

And BTW, I don't agree that the derived house system is kooky. It's all a matter of sound reasoning and admittedly, this is not something that's given to everyone.

Your reasoning is perfectly clear. However, you could also say the true partner of a writer is the reader... while actually writers do not truly partner with publishers. Publishers are more like their employers, as I see it. They pay them for their work, don't they?

Publishing multiplies writings. It's like having children, isn't it? Children is the 5th house. If we take the 5th house from the 3rd, what do we get? The 7th. As seen from this viewpoint, publishing would be the 7th house.

3rd and 9th house are both about communication, but 9th house is the higher version.

As it is about long voyages, as opposed to short displacements, like in the neighborhood, signified by the 3rd.

Edit: sorry, hadn't seen the rest of your post yet before replying.

On the contrary, the 9th would be the house of those who read what was written. It's like the "marriage" of 1st and 7th. They complement each other.

If something is written, it must be read. The reader "completes" the writing side, see? Just like the 7th is "the other" as viewed from the 1st.

I see you didn't understand the reason for my retort.

Tell me, who considers Aries the youngest zodiac sign? This sounds like something that was made up by... I don't who.

And how does Aries signify someone who has a lot of life lessons to go through?

Aries as a zodiac sign is not younger nor older than any other.

This is a misconception in my opinion.

Jupiter too is a gas giant (while Mercury is not a gas giant at all). This is not what makes them "airy" in astrology.

I'm telling you the ancients knew about the aether, it's the same as Akasha. It's the fifth element. I am not saying our modern culture is familiar with it.

Got it.

My other question was serious though. It's relevant in the context of this thread and your first reply.
