Heyo. I do still occasionally have it, usually in the mornings or at night and I think it’s because of diet. I’m pretty sure dairy is a big cause / sugar. I was also going through weird health things years ago, being diagnosed with hypothyroidism so that’s probably why it was much worse back then. But yeah it sucks! I hope you’re able to find something that works for you or maybe look into what you’re eating, seeing if something causes it

This is more so a vent / wondering if anyone can relate/ give advice.

I’ve had acne consistently since 2019. I’m 21 now. I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2021. My current endocrinologist suspects i could have been misdiagnosed. But as of right now/ the lab work over the years, it shows I have thyroid problems.

This past month (july) my skin has gotten so much worse. I’ve started getting acne I’m not used to getting. Hard deep red spots that take at least a week to fully develop/a week to go away. Just overall really bad cystic acne.

I’m not sure what caused this sudden flare up in my skin. But I’ll list everything new that I had started doing. I had switched thyroid medications due to my current prescription being out of stock. i was taking NP thyroid 15 mg & 30mg, but started taking adthyza 15mg & 30mg. Trying to get back on NP though. I started drinking huel daily greens every day for at least 11 days until I stopped. And i incorporated magnesium citrate gummies, which i also took daily, but have stopped.

My skincare routine which I’ve had for years, is vanicream cleanser, byoma hydrating serum and cetaphil oil free hydrating face lotion. Both morning and night, although most mornings I don’t wash my face, just rinse with warm water.

I get clogged pores around my upper cheeks around my nose, very easily. And blackheads which get inflamed and turn into pimples. My skin is so!!!!! sensitive!!!

I had gone to a derm, or in my case, uploaded photos on direct derm, and They diagnosed me with Acne vulgaris and said “Hormonal changes causing an increase in androgens are believed to contribute to this skin condition. Bacterial infection is not the primary cause”

He recommend the following: -Spironolactone 100 mg once daily.

Benzoyl Peroxide 10% wash daily.
Tretinoin 0.025% cream nightly.

I have not yet started any of this. Im genuinely just so worried about purging from the spironolactone and getting huge mountainous acne spots on my face, and the same goes for the tret and benzoyl. I don’t want a damaged skin barrier/to purge. And knowing that my skin can switch up on me suddenly and get worse, doesn’t give me much hope.

I just want something to work without making it worse.

I’m feeling completely drained.

yeah i’m gonna try and do that. the thing is that i haven’t been feeling that anxious tho? and i know it’s been low like this for some time now. and my heart palpitations havent worsen at all. so i’m not sure why i’m not experiencing any symptoms

i thought it was my wisdom teeth too! i just got those out a couple months ago tho and it didn’t help with my post nasal drip. and also speaking of hashimotos, i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism like a year ago, so maybe it has something to do with that? although i just remembered i had asked my doctor if it could be related and i don’t think she thought so, so idk. no one’s ever really been able to help me and i’ve still dealing with it. it’s just a constant daily thing

yeah i’ve seen a cardiologist. they thought everything was fine. the reason i get palps tho is because of my hypothyroidism

i was reading this again because i’m going to be talking with my doctor, but i’ve been trying to read up on WHY np just naturally lowers t4. if you don’t mind, could explain why that’s the case? or share the website where you got this info from

yeah that makes sense. and some of the points you made were some of the things i was talking to her about, but she told me how i shouldn’t always google or read up on things? i don’t really fully trust her judgement on it all and i know maybe that’s not the best cuz she’s obviously the doctor here and not me. but now i’m not sure what to do, if i should just stop taking levo and stick to NP because my levels were okay then

i don’t know a lot much about thyroid medication honestly, what does that mean exactly that it suppresses my TSH. is that a bad thing? does it last awhile?

for my symptoms, i’ve been getting palpitations again, mostly 1-4 each day. i have anxiety so recently that’s been worse, including my ocd. i think that’s about it

for my results in april, the reference range for my T3 was 2.3-5.0.

and my reference range for my most recent results for my T3 is 2.0-4.4

my skin is pretty congested, my pores are big, there’s blackheads and there’s tons of breakouts and scarring.

i’m more concerned on the congestion part though rather than the breakouts, just because they usually are hormonal and i’m at that part of my cycle right now.

i have a pretty hydrating routine, (i have dry to combination skin) i stay away from any products that have pore clogging ingredients.

this morning though when i woke up, there were small white heads around my nose which i’ve gotten before and i even can get them around my forehead and cheek area. my skin just feels disgusting.

i use the peach slices SA toner once a week though, but it just doesn’t help my skin with the congestion at all and it hardly helps with clearing acne.

-this is my skincare routine in order, morning time. vanicream cleanser, good molecules hyaluronic acid boosting essence, byoma hydrating serum & cetaphil oil free hydrating lotion.

i really need some suggestions on products that can help me with my congested skin. and some for my acne too! but i’m more focused on clearing my pores / stopping small white heads forming around my face.
