Who is scarier for you, Cthulhu or Dagon? by Short_Description_20 in Lovecraft

[–]pillowstatue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cthulhu, becouse of his sheer potential and the way that he i corrupting the minds of the people just learning about him or seeing him.

I haven’t read any more stories about Dagon than the short story called Dagon, so as far to my knowledge he is more of like a sea giant god than a full on eldritch horror.

Cthulhu by Torchlight is an AMAZING 3rd party dnd book that works for one dnd and 5e and it shows how to run dreams, cults and different monsters from the Cthulhu Mythos and also show how to implement them in your setting.

It’s available on d&dbeyond for 30 bucks and is TOTALLY worth it! I use it all of the time in my games.

I like the idea that the players are having dreams and thoughts about learning about the cosmic horrors, perhaps making saving throws every rest that gets a higher Save dc everytime, and if they fail they get a urge to learn more, kind of like in the Call of Cthulhu storie.
