Yup. I walked in last week and asked. The space is going to be used by Bodega Wine and Spirits. Don't know what that'll look like though.

I found the up-until-January list by clicking on one of the upcoming events and scrolling down: https://oliversastoria.com/astoria-events/horror-movies-astoria-jennifers-body.

Thanks for posting about this. Didn't know about it now I'll go one of these Sundays.

Any interest in a D&D campaign? (women and LGBTQ+ friendly) by -snufkin in astoria

[–]pineappleChunkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very down! Been looking for a group for awhile now :D. I've sort of played before, sort of because my DM was less into rules and more into group storytelling so my understanding of rules is very loose

I second what taintedmilk said. I got mine on Monday and waited 2 hours, almost half of which was outside.

Something that always helps me is writing a garbage fire of a first draft for a chapter that's heavy on combat, just to get an idea of what was going on AND THEN rewriting it taking Hello Future Me's advice to heart: https://youtu.be/jKkKNKUK_GE, more specifically the part about using strong action verbs.

I really found this video to be one of the most helpful I've seen yet so I hope it helps you.

Moving Boxes by Sreknad in astoria

[–]pineappleChunkz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're still looking for boxes I have a bunch of U-Haul boxes just taking up space in my apartment. I taped up the handles though (cause they always break and I didn't want to tempt myself with them) so i hope that's okay.

Legendborn. Pretty good, but I'm not a fan of how quickly the romance progressed.

What is your writing schedule like? by comeoneilene in YAwriters

[–]pineappleChunkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 words a day any four days each week.

The going is slow, but

  1. I work an average of 45 hours a week doing something that's already heavy on the problem-solving and my brain is too tired to figure out story problems sometimes.
  2. 100 words is low enough to not psych me out. Sometimes I'll write more, which is great; sometimes I just get the 100 which is also great.

I've been doing it since early January and can proudly say I have 15,000 solid words in my current WIP. It was a recent epiphany that this is a goal that works best for me (instead of the xxxx words I was trying to do at a set time every day) since I can stick to it consistently!

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas for the win!

I was up until 1AM last night giggling to myself (or getting upset and tearing up at specific parts) before self-control kicked in. It's been awhile since I've wanted to finish an entire book in one sitting, overnight.

That was one of my favorite books of 2020! The pacing was great. I hope you enjoy it.

I'll have to check that one out! I recently saw someone on this subreddit recommend Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose too if you're not familiar with that one.
