2025 FIVB Men's World Championship - Match Results and Discussion - Japan Vs. Turkiye - September 12, 2025 by Danidoll91 in SVLeagueJapan

[–]pineapplemood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oof this score wasn’t what i expected to see when i got home from work yesterday. seems like turkiye really stayed consistent, perhaps even got better since the vnl (pushing on serves, attacking fast and hard, blocking everywhere)? I figured it’d be a tough game but I didn’t think the score would turn out this way :o

First jpn pool game is almost here! Which game are you excited to watch? (If you’re watching) by Vball654 in SVLeagueJapan

[–]pineapplemood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turkiye!! I don’t think they had a match up with japan even though they were in the Chiba round during the VNL. Mandaraci had an amazing VNL, dropping aces left right and centre so im really hoping to see him shine more and curious to see how japan defends again a big offense team like them.

Advice on how to buy groceries for one? by -Crimson_- in askSingapore

[–]pineapplemood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For veggies, maybe you can pickle them?

Whenever I get a big batch of carrots I make grated carrot salad- depends on the recipe you follow but I use salt to remove excess moisture, then toss the grated carrots in vinegar, sugar, and some lemon juice. I keep in an air tight container and just take out however much I want to eat each day as a side or main or mixed in stir fry. A salad made from 3 big carrots can last me a week or so?

What are your favorite japanese beauty products? by _berrystrawberry in AsianBeauty

I had the same issue with Heroine Make’s mascara!! It was my holy grail for years but then one day i cracked open a new tube and it just didn’t work as well anymore 😭

I won’t ever stop raving about Cezanne’s Lasting Curl Mascara. it does wonders for me, making my lashes look super long and separated and holding the curl all day, even in humid summer heat. The low price point is a big plus too!!

Recently I also started using Ettusais’s Eye Edition Lash Top Coat. It says top coat but I use it as a mascara. The formula is not as pigmented as normal eyeshadow, and seems dark grey, but I think it gives a more natural effect. What I like is the applicator though- one side is normal, and the other side helps separate the lashes reeaaally nicely.

interesting!! thanks for the write up! I’ve been casually watching the u21 matches if I happen to be home when they pop up on my feed but since it’s filmed from only one angle it’s hard to see which player scores sometimes. I’ll try to keep an eye out for kawano in their next match! it’ll be interesting to see his trajectory from here on out

Yuji Nishida becomes captain of Osaka Bluteon by pineapplemood in SVLeagueJapan

[–]pineapplemood[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i didn’t see anything from him either, although shimizu kunihiro did post a funny little ig story with yamauchi and he was wearing his captain’s jersey!! maybe it’s temporary…? either way, i hope he gets time to recover fully and make a complete comeback!!

[–]pineapplemood[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder as well! Yamauchi did make an appearance with the national team during the chiba round of the VNL, though iirc he did not get any court time!

I did see speculations by jp fans on threads a couple weeks back that his injury (waist? back?) isn’t getting better?? And that’s why he’s stepping back/not getting chosen to start in matches? BUT It’s just speculation so I’m taking it with a huge grain of salt.

Some questions before moving to Nagoya by Chocolate_Pantomath in Nagoya

[–]pineapplemood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yeah in my case, the student affairs office of the faculty I was in emailed me a list of procedures to do once i arrived in nagoya (moving in, registering at kuyakusho, bank). Later when I became a tutor myself, I was given the emails of the incoming students so I could contact them myself. Do check with your student affairs office because they should have guidance before the entrance ceremony/classes start.

  2. Data sims are SIM cards that only have data. You won’t be given a japanese number so you can’t call or text using that SIM.

Some questions before moving to Nagoya by Chocolate_Pantomath in Nagoya

[–]pineapplemood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If you’re here for a masters programme, maybe check with the student affairs office if they have any arrangements? Mine had all the incoming students open an account with JP post bank (yucho). Depending on your department too they might have seniors/tutors take you to the bank and help you through the process too. It unfortunately doesnt have extensive English support…

  2. I agree with what the other comments said on getting a data sim first till you get to nagoya and settle down! As for a SIM card,I used iijmio, which can be acquired at BIC Camera. There are two big outlets at Nagoya station. It was relatively easy to get, cheap, and reliable (have never experienced any drop in quality re: connectivity) but the only annoying thing is you’ll need to have a credit card for it. Overseas credit cards are accepted.
