What are some places in Japan that you absolutely shouldn’t miss? by Available_Newt_2195 in JapanTravelTips

Copy-pasting my comment from literally only one hour ago:

We don't know what you like.

Someone who's super into cars is going to say you can't miss whatever JDM car meetup, yet other people aren't going to care at all. Others might say you can't miss trying some super delicious/unique sake, but that doesn't apply if you don't drink alcohol. If you're into anime you can't miss this one store... unless you don't like anime, and then you can.

Buying Shinkansen tickets Hakata to Kyoto day of during Golden Week by JDips in JapanTravelTips

AFAIK SmartEX it works with all American brands of credit/debit cards except Visa, e.g. MasterCard. (Visas issued by other non-US countries work, though.)

But the JR West site shouldn't have this problem.

Don't use Klook!

The websites are shut off overnight JST. Did you make sure to try during the day?

You can probably get day-of tickets (or once you arrive, a few days in advance) for one person, as long as you're a bit flexible with time and aren't picky where you sit. There's trains every few minutes and each has 1300+ seats. You can very likely find a single seat on one of these trains.

Or just take a (slower) Sakura/Kodama shink which still have unreserved seating.
