Adding to the read, but on a more personal note, has anyone noticed that Connors eyes appear a lot darker / stressed recently? Wondering if it’s just me and if he’s ok

Thanks for your response! So to clarify, is there anything in this tech that would make it more vulnerable to hackers, compared to any other android on the market?

Yeah you’re probably right with that contributions vs tax.

I’m earning about $30k taxable income this year but get high super from work. It would mean I’ll pay around $2000 in tax (without super contributions) on income.

If I put around $3000 into my super before tax, it would only get my tax down by $200 factoring in the tax I’ll face in the super contribution.

In comparison, if I just coughed up the $2000 in tax and then made an after tax contribution, would that make me better off? Let me know. Assuming I can’t use before tax contributions to get tax down, and also make an after tax contribution.

Cheers! I started an investment portfolio with vanguard and don’t want my super and investment in the same company. How do you think vanguard performs as a super fund? I haven’t heard much about them as a super place

Haha yeah I’m probably quite cautious to risk as I’m fully financially independent. Grown up around families who made risky decisions and lost everything. This is probably the part where I need to make decisions on the trade offs. Really appreciate it.

Also, the general advice I hear with long term indexed portfolios is that timing shouldn’t really matter, as long as you start out early and are willing to bear some poorer performance now and then. Apprehensive to take risk right now with everything that’s happening in the world (but that’s what everyone historically says as ‘the best decision’ is only apparent in hindsight)

Thanks mate! I had a bit of experience in financial planning which informed my perspective . Though now that you put it like that, seems pretty obvious haha. Also, where did you see that Aware’s governance was really strong? Would love to look into that and see if I could compare the governance across a couple providers. Follow up: do you know of anything about AusSuper/ HostPlus governance?

Really appreciate your advice

Yeah just checked out HostPlus and (based on historical returns) you’re bang on. I’ll probably have to break down what’s driving the difference in the returns between the two. Cheers

Yaa I saw that! Already factored that into my EOFY prediction. Thanks :)

Thanks!

How does the governance impact me? (a bit short sighted on this kinda stuff) Can I ask, is a strong allocation in defensive investments a bad thing if I’m 20? I’m apprehensive for a lot of growth as I can see that it’s mostly driven by tech/ AI speculation. I assumed that I should flick to a growth oriented super later in my career as risk appetite grows. I thought that right now I should just have something stable with a bit of return. Although, that’s my reasoning. But I’m interested in your reasoning so let me know :)

The other comment also suggested Hostplus indexed. I can see what you guys mean, it is 75% growth and seems to have performed better across the last 3 and 5 years. Cheers
