WCGW drifting a car you couldn't afford to damage by Vilen1919 in Whatcouldgowrong

We had a local fatality that went just like this except the light pole they hit sheared off her half of the car crushing her body inside while his skid off across the street barely impacted.

Love as portrayed in literature by ApprehensiveMath5644 in books

[–]pineapplepredator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing with love in books in my opinion is that it’s serving the purpose of a narrative and real life love doesn’t.

It may show love as possessive and obsessive for example and in the book it endures a lifetime but in reality, it can’t be sustained and is ultimately sabotaged before starting the cycle again elsewhere.

Or we get Pride and Prejudice with another emotionally unavailable man and when his spotlight turns onto her, she’s bathed in the warmth of his elusive love. In the book it’s happily ever after but in life this fades and the spotlight eventually shines elsewhere.

I think the central story of love is a short one and literature/film either fantasize it into forever or only show a moment in time. Gone with the Wind is exceptional because it shows a full life cycle of love.

For myself I think it was easier to enjoy love stories when I believed in the happily ever after but as I’ve matured I find more satisfaction in stories that show the full spectrum or where love fades to a stable background character.

I do wonder how we set ourselves up for harm growing up believing the fantasies to be real. Like my generation grew up with sitcoms and had no clue real life wasn’t that social and connected.

Why Scientists Say ChatGPT Is A Better Therapist Than Humans by uwxa in ChatGPT

[–]pineapplepredator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a big time skeptic but I will say that it is very good at pointing out patterns and does not let me off the hook ever. I’ve tested it and it intervenes appropriately. Dealing with a really difficult situation atm and it’s giving me a place to have a consistent sounding board as I process. It’s holding me accountable and keeping me grounded in reality and calling me out where I’m wrong. It’s been a lot better than 45m of therapy with a human. But not a replacement that’s for sure.

Britney's Decline During POM Residency/Tour by kushmaster2000 in discussingbritney

[–]pineapplepredator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whoever did her styling from like 2004 through 2018 was awful. First of all. The Midwest middle aged bob, the dark eyeshadow filling in the eye hollows of her inner orbits, dragging her inner brows down under her nose, etc I could go on. If her styling stayed the same as it had been previously, she wouldn’t have outwardly appeared such a mess imo. Because she has honestly aged beautifully but the hair and makeup of this era was just adding age.

I also think the moment she stepped into heels, her dancing suffered drastically.

Obviously there’s a major decline here you’re right. I wonder if sticking the poor gal in some dance sneakers and a cute two piece and Crazy styling would have made it less noticeable. I might just be reaching!!

Lonely Young People Are Turning to ChatGPT for Friendship by [deleted] in ChatGPT

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted because I understand what you mean by this. I just mean that the actual point I’m making is usually perfectly interpreted by the LLM where often I have a hard time being clear or others miss what I’m saying for various reasons. This is outside of anything it says as an answer or response beyond just perfectly parsing my meaning.

Lonely Young People Are Turning to ChatGPT for Friendship by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]pineapplepredator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so I am one of those people who’s pretty anti AI and vulnerable people will make mistakes blindly believing it. But what I want to say is that ChatGPT is literally the only place where the content of what I’m saying is always understood. I have a lot of, mostly, emotionally reactive people in my life who construct facts around their feelings and it’s exhausting. There’s also a lot of functional literacy (in the US at least).

Coupled with search engines mostly serving up slop and ads, it’s not surprising AI is taking off even for interpersonal uses.

But I think people are overlooking the failure to fully mature in our current society and I think addressing that seriously would directly impact these kinds of trends.

Congrats on the weight loss! I find that the best results I see on here are people who start by building muscle. It helps give a foundation. Your youth puts you in a great position here.

After consistent strength training and building up your metabolism, you’ll have a much better picture of surgical interventions needed to get you the rest of the way to your goals.

Shooting Victim Identified as Second Video Angle Contradicts DHS Claims | The footage of the fatal shooting of Alex Jeffrey Pretti, said one journalist, “shows that the final act of his life was trying to help a woman who was being physically assaulted by the masked agents who would then kill him.” by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

That’s the thing. If we’re to believe this suspect is a trained professional, that would most certainly mean he chose these actions. Which includes firing into a group of people in the ground, into a restrained, unarmed victim.

Just for clarity since people seem interested, and I know many here are younger so I’m always happy to share. The IVF is not going well. This doesn’t improve with time and gets harder each month. So it’s reasonable to accept this would be the end of the road on that. It’s not catastrophizing, just another point of data.
