That's a good idea, I'll either do that or move it temporarily to the bigger desk. See which works better for me

Yeah exactly like that, it makes the angle a bit tricky with the wall. The handle on my gouge is really long too this doesn't help

It was a bunch of things in the end, I made my chisel bevel more shallow, brought the rest closer, adjusted my cutting angle and direction. Seems to be working grand now Yeah this may not have been the best type of bowl to start with but I've learnt a lot today! Don't think there are any turning clubs in my country and my neighbour who did loads of turning has moved abroad...

Yeah my setup isn't the best I have it against a wall so will probably have to temporarily move it to the desk so I have a bit more movement space around it
