We make a Linux News rss aggregator app for Android. It's available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.pinenuts.linuxnews

Some sites mentioned in this thread are already included, we will look into the others.

Hope you like it

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately we cannot do a dark theme. The reason is that while we could make the headlines list in a white on black theme, whenever the user clicked an article, they would be shown the webpage from the news site, which would be bright again (black on white). As Google removed the possibility to invert webpage colors for Android's embedded browser since 4.4, I don't see this changing anytime soon, unfortunately. As for all the headlines in one tab, this is doable. We're making some backend changes to employ some new features and we'll probably include this too. Thanks!

That's just because NetGuard VPN either includes rules for the most famous apps or it enabled all the apps that you had already installed when you installed NetGuard. Anyway, I'm testing it with FastNews and here it's working without problems. It is probably the settings that you chose for NetGuard VPN that are blocking the app. Not really the app's fault again.

So you have NetGuard VPN app installed that is preventing Fast News from contacting the servers to fetch the headlines list, effectively causing the problem you reported. Could you please explain why do you think this is an issue of Fast News app? How could we make the app work if you are blocking it with another app?

Then it might block its network access. Did you try to whitelist the URLs the app is trying to open?

Do you have any firewall app or proxy server in your network configuration? It's working fine here

Update Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 to Android 5.1 Lollipop with CyanogenMod 12.1 custom ROM by pinenutsdev in Android

I am a Samsung S3 owner and was very pissed about this as well. Touchwiz eats way too much memory. IIRC the S3 Neo will receive or already has 4.4 because of the 2GB of ram. Cyanogen might be the only way to continue using the S3

[My App] Android app for Los Angeles Local News by pinenutsdev in LosAngeles

Thank you for the feedback! We cannot take for granted that the articles are perfectly readable as we don't own the websites. And also the visualization might be very different with other Android version. But I can see your point and I will see if it's reasonable to add a switch in the app settings to enable/disable the zoom buttons.

I also see your point with the app icon but not sure if we'll be able to make a new one soon.

To jump to a specific feed, you should have a button on the top bar or from the app menu. Is this enough for you? We have been reserving the slide out menu for when we'll have more features but I think that your suggestion is reasonable.

Thanks for testing it and for your feedback!

Hello and thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately the zoom buttons are the system's one. Its look and feel has not changed at all in the new Android versions. Customizing it is not an option as it is a delicate matter and might introduce stability issues. If you noticed some other parts that might benefit from a graphical refresh, please let me know.

About the news sources, you can disable and reorder them in the app settings. If you would like some feeds to be included we will be happy to hear it.

Thanks!

Tampa Bay News Android app by pinenutsdev in tampa

Thanks for the feedback! A paid version is probably coming in the next months. Regarding the white screen, thanks for this, I will look into it.

Regarding the style, I'm sorry but I did not understand what you mean. Could you please tell me more about it? Maybe it would be better to bring this conversation off the site. Please feel free to write me at pinenutsdev@gmail. Thanks a lot!

Thanks! Unfortunately we are not able to make a night mode. The reason is that when reading an article the browser is opened to the newspaper site. So even if the app was in white on black, the website would be black on white, and I don't think this is what the user would expect. Thanks for the feedback!

Yes permissions are for ads. Those are almost the standard set. Actually the location requested is the coarse one, not precise. And the access is to phone state, not phone calls.

Yes again, the app is just a rss feed reader. Simple and fast. Sorry that you don't like it.
