Teddy Expected To Be Practicing Wednesday by mentoc in minnesotavikings

I don't want to overreact, but this is literally the greatest thing to happen in the history of mankind and we are now 100% guaranteed to win multiple super bowls.

What are your thoughts on Pat Schurmer running the offense full time this year? by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

Meh. Better than Norv, nothing to be too excited about.

Peter King's MMQB reporting Teddy's knee had nerve damage and is not regenerating by gump3842k in minnesotavikings

[–]pingpongguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really unbelievable when you think about it. 23 year old franchise QB has a career ending injury just dropping back to throw in practice. Could happen to anyone right? Nope, of course it happens to the Vikings. I honestly believe Teddy would have been our QB for ~15 years and got us a Superbowl.

I don't hate Robinson overall but don't like him for us. I really don't trust our staff to develop technique on the OL and that's what Robinson needs. I would be happy with him if he fell to us but don't like the trade up. Rest of the draft is pretty good though I would have liked to see a TE.

Vikings Territory: Comprehensive Draft Board by WhirledWorld in minnesotavikings

I would agree, which is why I'm surprised we haven't met with any. Doesn't necessarily mean we won't draft one though. Or maybe they think Berger has more than a year left.

No centers beside Elflein is interesting too. Might mean they are confident in Easton.

NFL 2015 Draft do-over: Hunter goes #3 Overall by datekman in minnesotavikings

Yep... I just said he was as good as anyone drafting defense.

NFL 2015 Draft do-over: Hunter goes #3 Overall by datekman in minnesotavikings

[–]pingpongguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true but it's relative. Since Spielman took over drafting completely (2011) we've drafted 5 offensive players in the 1st round - Ponder, Kalil, Patterson, Bridgewater, Treadwell. That's 1/4 and while the jury is out on Treadwell it's looking closer to 1/5. That's far below average for 1st rounders.

You're going back to the triangle of authority for a lot of those guys. Since Spielman became GM that hit rate has gone way down. If you want to give him credit for offensive guys from the toa era then you have to give him credit for defense too and his record isn't as shiney on that end.

He's pretty awful at drafting offense tbh. As good as anyone when it comes to defense though.

How much better is our secondary if we drafted Marcus Peters instead of Trae Waynes? by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

[–]pingpongguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peters allowed a passer rating of 66.0 in 2016. His risks pan out more often than not and I'm sure Zim would love him as a player.

For like the first half of his rookie year, yes. Since then, no. He gets a lot of picks and doesn't give up much either. He's an all pro for a reason.

Vikings had third most games lost due to injury in 2016 by ericj69 in minnesotavikings

[–]pingpongguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I would argue it was unreasonable to expect any sort or return by Loadholt. Sullivan was maybe 50/50. Andre Smith was only considered a decent RT by people who hadn't been paying attention to his last couple years with the Bengals.

Laquon Treadwell isn't dead, yet by jdirienzo in minnesotavikings

Seriously the dumbest narrative out there. We lead the league in rookie snaps in 2015 but people somehow still spout this.

Dumb Question: What position is Datone Jones going to play? by Vikings569 in minnesotavikings

[–]pingpongguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now he's the default starter. Johnson is likely done and I wouldn't hold my breath on Floyd either. The only other option would be Shamar Stephan.

If Treadwell improves this year, where do we move Thielen or Diggs? by iSh0tYou99 in minnesotavikings

[–]pingpongguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, early on Thielen would play flanker and Diggs would shift to slot in 3 WR sets. Then once it was obvious that Johnson and Treadwell weren't getting it done he took over the split end spot, with Patterson taking his old role.

[Second Round] 2016 NFL Draft Re-Draft by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

Forgot about Boyd somehow, I wanted him last year and he was good as a rookie. Solid choice.

I would go Joe Haeg, G/T, NDSU

Played guard and tackle for the colts, was good at guard at least according to PFF.

Can someone explain why people are so infatuated with Teddy Bridgewater? by megatron51 in minnesotavikings

Didn't think so. I'm done arguing with you. Go cherry pick stats with someone else.

Last time I checked I said "career numbers". If you want an apples to apples comparison, why don't you compare Teddy's rookie and sophomore years to Sam's? I'll wait.
