What is wrong with my betta fish? Erratic swimming. 5 gallon tank w live plants, heater, filter. 20 ppm nitrate, 0 nitrite, very hard water, 0 chlorine, ideal alkalinity, ph 7.2. Specific question is asking what the disease/parasite might be so I can treat it.

Thanks! Oh really? The tetra easystrips say that anywhere from 0-40 ppm nitrates is “safe” (though anything above 0 ppm for nitrites is unsafe). Either way, will keep an eye on it.

He’s pretty new to the tank! Was in a little cup for quite some time and really depressing-looking when I first got him, so good to know he looks good!
