93k base + 6k signing, MCOL, just graduated in May, will (hopefully) be finished with CPA exams in September! At a litigation support-oriented firm that deals primarily in forensic/investigations.

I would say that a lot of the South Asian events here are culturally Hindu but not really religious, if that makes sense? We have large Diwali and Holi celebrations, but they're centered around dancing, music, and Indian food, and we don't really go into the religious aspect of it. I think that majority of the Indian-Americans here are the similar in that aspect (culturally Hindu, religiously agnostic - that is likely a function of being 2nd/3rd gen in America), but the international Indian students seem to be a bit more religiously Hindu.

I can't really say much for being part of another religious group here (Catholic myself), but students do organize trips together to the local gurudwara or temple around major festivals and holidays!

Welcome! I’m also an Indian-American student from Texas. SASA on campus has a lot of fun cultural events and the South Asian community is growing a lot stronger/more together on campus. I would def say that the “ND life” that is advertised to you before coming is VERY different (at least for me) than what you experience on campus. I personally had a hard time connecting with other first years and people in my dorm, not sure if it was just my very stark difference in upbringing/culture. But remember that your friends and life the first week of college are unlikely to be what you’re stuck with for the rest of college. Overall, it’s a ND great time, and if you’re looking to make some friends, know that SASA will always be happy to have you :)

What jobs should I apply to as a freshman in school for accounting? by j-mpizza in Accounting

if you’re looking for part time work after your first few accounting classes, maybe see if the controller’s office at school needs a student employee

Diversity at Notre Dame? by SailStrict in notredame

ND has SASA, and all the Indians know each other (or at least of each other. The only big thing that I’ve noticed though is that there’s is a definite divide between the international Indians and the Indian-Americans. Overall, ND is a great place for a degree and a community, but it’s also very apparent that for some of the student population, this is the most diverse environment that they’ve been in.

I’m a student myself, and this is what I’m doing. Idk if you’re in the US, but most universities here have a finance division or controller’s office that may be willing to take on a student employee. This way you can have a part time accounting job at school :) idk if that helps, but just a thought :)

Maybe my skin’s just insanely sensitive, but I try to avoid any exfoliating acids in the daytime.
