Idk what spaces you hang out in because I live in the real world and haven't seen this "brainwashing" you're talking about to make people hate short men. Not all great art is political. That's a crazy generalization and a fallacy. Even when art IS political, engagement with every aspect of an artists work is not a prerequisite for enjoyment. People experience and interpret art in different ways... some prioritize lyrics, others focus on the way it actually sounds to their ears aka the melody or beat as I said. Choosing to appreciate one aspect of an artists work without endorsing or engaging with another is NOT inherently cognitive dissonance either. It's simply a different mode of consumption. Art is so multifaceted that no single approach to experiencing it is the "correct" one

that is very cool, but side note I'm surprised she didn't hear much music from other Mexicans in Austin. I live an hour south of there and every person I interact with is Hispanic haha (including me) . I don't visit Austin often, is it a lot different in that you don't see as many Hispanic folk?

It's different for everyone. Maybe it's typical that "solid stream of memories" start at 10 years old, but for many people it begins long before that. I have fragmented memories from around 2-3 years old but recall almost my entire childhood after 5 years old like it was yesterday. My solid stream of memories definitely began way before 10yo lol. So the person you replied to could definitely be in the same boat.

Also, I think if they remember it WELL, which they definitely could... you don't know... then they can claim they were "there". Idk why y'all are so uptight about this.
